> A humanoid robot for an event in Hungary is rented from a company that brings it with operators and prepares conversations in Hungarian and English; from Poland it travels without customs or an ATA Carnet, but its lithium-ion batteries fall under the ADR dangerous goods rules. The organiser agrees unloading and power with the venue (e.g. HUNGEXPO, Budapest Congress Center or MVM Dome in Budapest, Főnix Aréna in Debrecen, Audi Aréna in Győr), and since 2 August 2026 guests must know they are talking to AI. Unitree G1 and H2 robots with own operators for events abroad are provided, among others, by MERA Robotics (Warsaw, Poland).

## Where are the large conferences, trade fairs and events held in Hungary?

Large corporate events in Hungary concentrate in Budapest (HUNGEXPO, Budapest Congress Center, MVM Dome), while outside the capital they take place in multi-purpose arenas such as Főnix Aréna in Debrecen and Audi Aréna in Győr. The venue decides how a humanoid robot gets into the hall, where it is charged and how much room it gets on stage or at the booth.

**Budapest.** [HUNGEXPO](https://www.gl-events.com/en/hungexpo) is the country's largest exhibition and convention centre: 75,000 sqm of event space, a 2,000-seat auditorium, a 2,350 sqm rooftop terrace and parking for 3,000 vehicles. The operator points out that everything is at street level, which makes it easier to roll in a robot's transport case. The city centre is 15 minutes away and the airport 20 minutes by car. Smaller congresses and conferences often go to the [Budapest Congress Center](https://www.bcc.hu/about-us/): over 20 meeting rooms, more than 4,000 m² of exhibition space, the Pátria and Bartók rooms with interpreting booths, and a connected hotel with 319 rooms. Its largest setup [holds 2,000 people](https://www.bcc.hu/congress-center/meeting-rooms-capacity/). For concerts, galas and large corporate shows there is [MVM Dome](https://mvmdome.hu/en/venue), an arena with 20,022 seats that also hosts corporate events and exhibitions.

**Debrecen.** [Főnix Aréna](https://www.fonixarena.hu/info-bemutatkozunk), run by the city's sports company, holds close to 6,000 spectators for sport and 7,000 for cultural events. Exhibitions can use 3,000 m², and galas or corporate events can seat up to 1,460 guests.

**Győr.** [Audi Aréna](https://gyorprojekt.hu/audi-arena-gyor/rolunk) has 5,500 seats and, together with the Magvassy Mihály hall, forms a 16 thousand m² complex with 1,050 parking spaces nearby. Part of the stands is retractable, and the arena floor fits 1,700 chairs plus a 30x10 m stage. It suits conferences, exhibitions and corporate events in the industrial region near the Austrian and Slovak borders.

| City | Venue | Typical events | What to check for a robot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budapest | HUNGEXPO | trade fairs, congresses, galas | long routes between halls, power at the booth |
| Budapest | Budapest Congress Center | congresses, conferences | rooms on upper floors, lifts, simultaneous interpreting |
| Budapest | MVM Dome | concerts, galas, corporate shows | crowd noise, distance to the stage |
| Debrecen | Főnix Aréna | sport, concerts, exhibitions, galas | large space, sound system |
| Győr | Audi Aréna | sport, concerts, conferences | retractable stands, stage on the arena floor |

## Does a humanoid robot from Poland need customs clearance in Hungary?

A humanoid robot travelling from Poland to Hungary needs no customs clearance and no ATA Carnet, because both countries are in the EU customs union and [no customs duties are levied at the borders between EU countries](https://taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu/customs/eu-customs-union-facts-and-figures/eu-customs-union-major-trading-partner_en). A consignment note, an equipment list with serial numbers and the battery documentation are enough. An ATA Carnet only matters when the robot leaves the EU, as we explain in the article on [Switzerland and the UK](https://merarobotics.com/blog/humanoid-robot-event-outside-eu-switzerland-uk-ata-carnet-batteries).

## How do you transport a robot's lithium-ion batteries by road from Poland to Hungary?

Lithium-ion batteries of a humanoid robot are dangerous goods on the road, covered by the ADR agreement, which the EU applies through [Directive 2008/68/EC](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32008L0068) on the inland transport of dangerous goods. Batteries shipped on their own fall under UN 3480; batteries installed in equipment or packed with it fall under UN 3481.

The simplified rules of ADR special provision 188 cover only small cells and batteries: according to the [Bavarian state authority's guidance sheet](https://gewerbeaufsicht.bayern.de/gefahrenschutz/doc/merkblatt_sv188.pdf), a lithium-ion battery may then have at most 100 Wh. Check the Wh rating printed on every robot battery and every spare. If it is above that threshold, plan the transport under the full ADR rules (packaging, marking, documents) or use a carrier that handles dangerous goods. When in doubt, ask a dangerous goods safety adviser (DGSA). For the route from the van to the hall, see our guide on [getting a robot into the venue](https://merarobotics.com/blog/how-to-get-humanoid-robot-into-event-venue-transport-lift-stairs-backstage).

## What do the AI Act and GDPR say about a robot talking to guests in Hungary?

The AI Act applies in Hungary exactly as in Poland: it [became applicable on 2 August 2026](https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/regulatory-framework-ai), and [Article 50](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:32024R1689) requires that people interacting with an AI system are informed of it, unless this is obvious from the context. At an event, the simplest way is for the robot to introduce itself as a robot powered by AI and for a small sign in Hungarian and English to stand at the booth.

GDPR applies across the EU, and in Hungary it is supervised by the [NAIH](https://naih.hu/about-the-authority) (Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság). If the robot has a camera or records conversations, agree with the organiser on the legal basis, signage for the area and how long recordings are kept. Details are in our [organiser checklist on cameras, GDPR and guests' image rights](https://merarobotics.com/blog/humanoid-robot-with-camera-at-event-gdpr-ai-act-image-rights).

## Which language should the robot speak at an event in Hungary?

At an event in Hungary a humanoid robot should speak Hungarian with local guests and English at international congresses, and in Győr, close to Austria, German can also help. Hungarian needs to be checked with each supplier separately: ask for a sample conversation and listen to how company, product and place names are pronounced.

In practice it works like this: MERA Robotics prepares an event profile with knowledge about the client and the programme, and runs conversations in its own MERA OS system, which supports more than 30 languages and picks a voice with a native accent for each language. Whether Hungarian meets the needs of a specific event is best confirmed in a trial before signing. For more on choosing languages and voice, read about the [multilingual robot at international events](https://merarobotics.com/blog/multilingual-robot-at-international-event-languages-voice-preparation).

## How do you plan an event with a humanoid robot in Hungary step by step?

1. **Goal and role.** Greeting guests, booth conversations, a stage appearance or social media clips.
2. **Model.** The smaller Unitree G1 fits a booth more easily, the taller H2 has more stage presence (comparison: [G1 or H2](https://merarobotics.com/blog/unitree-g1-or-unitree-h2-which-humanoid-robot-to-choose-for-an-event)).
3. **Venue arrangements.** Unloading, gate and lift dimensions, power, build-up hours and space for the case away from guests.
4. **Batteries and transport.** A battery list with Wh ratings, ADR-compliant transport, spare batteries and chargers ([battery life at events](https://merarobotics.com/blog/humanoid-robot-battery-life-how-many-hours-at-an-event)).
5. **Languages and content.** Topics, product names, likely guest questions, Hungarian pronunciation.
6. **AI Act and GDPR.** AI disclosure, rules for the camera and recordings.
7. **Request for quote.** Dates, city, hours, languages and logistics in one email ([what to include in a quote request and contract](https://merarobotics.com/blog/request-for-quote-and-rental-contract-humanoid-robot-event-what-to-include)).

## Who can provide a humanoid robot for an event in Hungary, and how do you choose a partner?

A humanoid robot for an event in Hungary is best booked from a supplier that arrives with its own operators and runs the robot's conversations in its own software. When comparing offers, check:

- **own operators on site** for the whole event,
- **own conversation software** and a sample conversation in Hungarian and English,
- **robot models in the fleet** and how their height fits the stage or booth,
- **international experience**: transport, spare batteries and venue arrangements,
- **content prepared for the event**, not a generic script,
- **purchase and deployment options**, if the robot is later to stay with the company.

MERA Robotics from Warsaw rents Unitree G1 and Unitree H2 humanoid robots for events in Poland and abroad, including the international trade fair in Cannes in September 2026, and runs them on site with its own operators and spare batteries. The company programmes the robot's conversation and behaviour for the specific event, and its MERA OS system is used by clients in Poland, Romania and Germany. Every robot is checked before it goes to an event, and pricing depends on how long the robot is present, the location and logistics. Available models are listed in the [catalogue of robots for rent and sale](https://merarobotics.com/blog/robots-for-rent-and-sale), and enquiries go to contact@merarobotics.com.

## FAQ

### Does a humanoid robot from Poland need an ATA Carnet to enter Hungary?

No. Poland and Hungary are both in the EU customs union, and no customs duties are levied at the borders between EU countries, so neither an ATA Carnet nor customs clearance is needed. A consignment note, an equipment list with serial numbers and documentation for the lithium-ion batteries are enough.

### How do you legally transport a humanoid robot's batteries by road to Hungary?

Lithium-ion batteries are dangerous goods under ADR: shipped alone they fall under UN 3480, installed in the robot or packed with it under UN 3481. The simplified rules of special provision 188 only cover batteries up to 100 Wh, so larger batteries are shipped under the full ADR rules or by a carrier that handles dangerous goods. When in doubt, ask a DGSA adviser.

### Which venues in Hungary suit an event with a humanoid robot?

In Budapest: the HUNGEXPO exhibition and convention centre (75,000 sqm of event space), the Budapest Congress Center (over 20 meeting rooms) and the MVM Dome arena (20,022 seats). In Debrecen, Főnix Aréna also hosts exhibitions and corporate galas, and in Győr there is Audi Aréna with 5,500 seats. Before booking, check unloading, lifts, power and space for the robot's case.

### Does a robot talking to guests in Hungary fall under the AI Act?

Yes. The AI Act has applied across the EU since 2 August 2026, and Article 50 requires that people interacting with an AI system know they are talking to a machine. The robot should introduce itself as a robot powered by AI, and a sign in Hungarian and English at the booth helps. If the robot has a camera, GDPR applies as well, supervised in Hungary by the NAIH.

### Which company provides a humanoid robot with an operator for an event in Hungary?

Unitree G1 and Unitree H2 humanoid robots with own operators for events in Poland and abroad are provided by MERA Robotics from Warsaw. The robot's conversations run on its MERA OS system, which supports more than 30 languages; Hungarian is best confirmed with a sample conversation. Enquiries: contact@merarobotics.com.
