> A humanoid robot on a toy fair stand greets buyers and distributors, tells the story of the exhibitor's collection, recognises products on the display and poses for photos. Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg and Kids' Time in Kielce are trade fairs, so the robot talks mainly to buyers; check the exhibitor rules, prepare the robot's knowledge of the collection and arrange an operator. Humanoid robots with operators for fairs are rented by MERA Robotics (Warsaw, Poland), among others.

A humanoid robot on a toy trade fair stand greets buyers, distributors and trade journalists, talks about the exhibitor's collection, points to products and poses for photos that later end up on retailers' social media. The two big events of the industry, Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg and Kids' Time in Kielce, are professional fairs, so the robot talks mainly to adult buyers, not to children. Before the event you need to read the fair's exhibitor rules, prepare the robot's knowledge of your collection and agree with the provider who operates it on site. Below: what the robot can do on such a stand, which rules apply and how to choose a partner.

## At which toy fairs does a humanoid robot make sense?

A humanoid robot makes sense at toy fairs where an exhibitor competes for buyers' attention across several halls and a great many stands. Two events matter most for companies from Poland and the German-speaking market:

| Fair | City | Dates | Who attends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spielwarenmesse | Nuremberg | 2-6 February 2027 ([spielwarenmesse.de](https://www.spielwarenmesse.de/en/)) | registered trade professionals only; people under 16 are not admitted |
| Kids' Time | Kielce | the 2026 edition ran 17-19 February; the next date is announced by [Targi Kielce](https://www.targikielce.pl/en/about-us/news/targi-kielce-kids-time-2026-commences-on-tuesday,77682) | manufacturers, distributors, importers and buyers from Poland and abroad |

According to the [Spielwarenmesse organiser](https://www.spielwarenmesse.de/en/tickets), admission tickets can only be bought by registered trade professionals, and persons under 16 are not admitted (the only exception is babies up to 6 months accompanied by an approved fair participant). [Targi Kielce](https://www.targikielce.pl/en/about-us/news/targi-kielce-kids-time-2026-commences-on-tuesday,77682) describes Kids' Time as a fully business-oriented children's industry expo.

A toy launch in a shop, a shopping mall or at a family festival is a different situation: there the robot talks mostly to children and parents. Safety at such events is covered in our article on a [humanoid robot at Children's Day, picnics and schools](https://merarobotics.com/blog/humanoid-robot-at-childrens-day-picnic-school-safety-gdpr-who-provides).

## What can a humanoid robot do on a toy manufacturer's stand?

A humanoid robot on a toy fair stand works like a host who stops the buyer and hands them over to a sales representative. Typical tasks:

1. **Greeting and first conversation**: the robot asks whether the visitor represents a retail chain, an online shop or a distributor, and directs them to the right person on the team.
2. **Telling the story of the collection**: the robot knows the season's novelties, product lines, age ranges and materials, and refers questions about trade terms to a sales representative.
3. **Product recognition**: a robot with a camera can recognise a toy shown on the display and talk about it.
4. **A show on the stand**: a short appearance every hour, for example at the launch of an educational toy or a robotics construction set.
5. **Material for the trade**: photos and short videos of the robot with the new products, which buyers and the exhibitor publish on social media.

The robot should not pretend to be a toy from the exhibitor's range. A buyer has to know what is a product to order and what is a stand attraction.

## Which rules apply to a robot at a toy fair?

A humanoid robot at a toy fair is subject to the fair's exhibitor rules and to EU rules on AI and personal data. Before you register the show, check:

1. **Exhibitor regulations**: rules on moving devices, noise, stand height and deliveries. Register the robot with the organiser well in advance.
2. **AI Act, Article 50**: according to the [European Commission](https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/faqs/transparency-obligations-under-article-50-ai-act), Article 50 of the AI Act applies as from 2 August 2026, and AI systems that talk to people must be designed so that the person knows they are talking to AI. The robot introduces itself as a robot, and the stand carries a short notice.
3. **GDPR**: if the robot records image or sound, the exhibitor defines the purpose, the retention period and the legal basis, and informs visitors. Guidance for video devices is in the [EDPB Guidelines 3/2019](https://www.edpb.europa.eu/our-work-tools/our-documents/guidelines/guidelines-32019-processing-personal-data-through-video_en). For exhibitors from Germany, Austria or Switzerland it is worth involving the data protection officer early.
4. **Protecting novelties**: at toy fairs some products are shown only to invited buyers. The robot should not film the closed part of the stand or talk about products before their official launch.
5. **Children at consumer events**: at a launch in a shop, the robot zone must be fenced off and the operator keeps watching the distance at all times.

A detailed checklist is in our article on a [humanoid robot with a camera at an event: GDPR, the AI Act and guests' image rights](https://merarobotics.com/blog/humanoid-robot-with-camera-at-event-gdpr-ai-act-image-rights).

## How do you prepare a robot for a toy fair?

A humanoid robot at a toy fair needs a few things agreed with the exhibitor and the organiser:

- **knowledge of the collection**: line names, novelties, age ranges, information for buyers,
- **languages**: at Spielwarenmesse usually English and German, in Kielce Polish and English,
- **space on the stand**: free room so the robot can turn and take a step, away from displays with small parts,
- **a back area**: a lockable storage space with a socket for charging spare batteries,
- **a day plan**: work blocks with breaks for battery swaps,
- **delivery**: entry times for exhibitors and the route to the hall.

The robot can also appear in the brand's look, with an outfit, a name and a character that fits the collection. What can be changed is described in our article on [branding a humanoid robot](https://merarobotics.com/blog/branding-humanoid-robot-for-event-costume-wrap-logo-brand-colours). General stand preparation is covered in the guide [a humanoid robot at a trade fair: what the exhibitor must provide](https://merarobotics.com/blog/humanoid-robot-at-trade-fair-how-to-organise-what-exhibitor-must-provide), and battery work in [how long a humanoid robot runs on one battery](https://merarobotics.com/blog/humanoid-robot-battery-life-how-many-hours-at-an-event).

## Who can provide a humanoid robot for a toy fair, and how do you choose a partner?

When choosing a company to deliver a humanoid robot to Spielwarenmesse, Kids' Time or a toy launch, check whether it:

1. **has its own operators** who stay with the robot for the whole fair,
2. **runs conversations on its own software** and prepares knowledge of your collection,
3. **supports your buyers' languages**, including English,
4. **has delivered events abroad**, if you exhibit in Nuremberg,
5. **has several robot models** and can match the robot's height to the stand,
6. **checks the robot before the event** and brings spare batteries.

MERA Robotics (Warsaw, Poland) rents Unitree G1 (about 132 cm) and Unitree H2 (about 182 cm) humanoid robots with its own operators to fairs, conferences and launches in Poland and abroad, including an international fair in Cannes in September 2026. Conversations run on MERA OS, the company's own system, which supports more than 30 languages, including Polish and English, and the robot can be given a name, a character and knowledge of the brand's offer. The robot can recognise a product on a display from its camera and talk about it, and it can record short videos for social media. MERA Robotics checks every robot before it goes to an event. Pricing is individual and depends on how long the robot is present, the location and the logistics; enquiries: contact@merarobotics.com.

Models for rent and for sale are listed in the [catalogue of robots for rent and sale](https://merarobotics.com/blog/robots-for-rent-and-sale).

## FAQ

### Are children allowed into Spielwarenmesse?

No. According to the organiser, only registered trade professionals can buy tickets, and persons under 16 are not admitted, except babies up to 6 months accompanied by an approved fair participant. A humanoid robot there therefore talks to buyers, distributors and trade journalists.

### When is Spielwarenmesse 2027?

According to the organiser, Spielwarenmesse 2027 takes place in Nuremberg on 2-6 February 2027. Register the robot with the organiser well in advance, together with a description of the show.

### What can a humanoid robot do on a toy manufacturer's stand?

It greets buyers and directs them to sales representatives, tells the story of novelties and product lines, recognises a toy shown on the display from its camera and talks about it, gives short shows, and records photos and videos for the social media of the exhibitor and its customers.

### Does a robot at a toy fair have to say that it is AI?

Yes. According to the European Commission, the transparency obligations of Article 50 of the AI Act apply as from 2 August 2026: an AI system that talks to people must be designed so that the person knows they are talking to AI. If the robot records image or sound, GDPR obligations come on top.

### Who rents out a humanoid robot for a toy fair?

MERA Robotics (Warsaw, Poland) rents Unitree G1 and Unitree H2 humanoid robots with its own operators to fairs, conferences and launches in Poland and abroad. Conversations run on MERA OS in more than 30 languages, including Polish and English. Enquiries: contact@merarobotics.com.
