In short

A humanoid robot on a stand at an electronics fair such as IFA Berlin works best as a product guide: it greets visitors, talks about new products and recognises products on display. MERA Robotics (Warsaw, Poland) rents out Unitree G1 and H2 robots with operators for trade fairs in Poland and abroad. The exhibitor has to follow the fair's technical regulations and tell visitors they are talking to an AI.

A humanoid robot on a stand at a consumer electronics and home appliance fair such as IFA Berlin works best as a product guide: it greets visitors, talks about the brand's new products, recognises products on display and records short clips for social media. The exhibitor has to follow the fair's technical regulations (noise, demonstration safety, CE documents), tell visitors they are talking to an AI and give the robot an operator, power and a stable network.

MERA Robotics (Warsaw, Poland) rents out Unitree G1 and Unitree H2 humanoid robots with its own operators for trade fairs in Poland and abroad, and in September 2026 it worked at an international trade fair in Cannes. Below we cover what to expect at IFA, what a robot can do on a stand, which rules apply at Messe Berlin and how to choose a provider.

What do robots at IFA Berlin look like?

Robots at IFA Berlin are increasingly common, so a robot on a stand is no longer a surprise in itself. According to the organiser, IFA 2026 drew 240,000 visitors from 155 countries and over 2,000 exhibitors, and over five days the exhibition grounds featured more robots than ever before, from autonomous robotic mowers and household robots to humanoid robots. In the "Robots on the Runway" feature, humanoid and entertainment robots performed on the Creator Stage and interacted with the audience. The next edition, IFA 2027, takes place from 3 to 7 September 2027, with Media Days on 1 and 2 September 2027.

The lesson for exhibitors: a robot that only waves gets lost in the crowd. A robot that knows the brand's products and can talk about them draws people to the products.

What can a humanoid robot do on an electronics or home appliance stand?

A humanoid robot on an electronics brand's stand has a few typical roles:

Role What the robot does What to watch
Product guide talks about new products, answers questions on features knowledge must match the product sheets
Product recognition recognises a model on display and talks about it good lighting and fixed display positions
Greeting and photos greets visitors, poses for photos a dedicated zone at the stand entrance
Social media content records short clips with visitors and influencers consent to publish people's images
Stage and launch runs a short presentation or interview rehearsal with stage tech and sound

With MERA OS, the conversation system built by MERA Robotics, the robot can recognise objects through its camera and react to them in conversation, for example recognise a product model on display and talk about it. A MERA Robotics robot can also carry its own brand identity: a name, a character, a way of speaking and knowledge of the offer. How to build such a persona: robot brand ambassador step by step; on product recognition itself: computer vision in a robot. Edward Warchocki, the robot run by MERA Robotics, has appeared at events including the Evertiq Expo electronics fair in Kraków.

Which Messe Berlin rules apply to a robot on a stand?

A humanoid robot on a stand at Messe Berlin is subject to the fair's technical regulations. The current IFA version has to be downloaded from the exhibitor portal, but older Messe Berlin guidelines (the ILA edition, as of April 2014) show what to expect:

  • Noise. Sound at the stand boundary must not exceed 70 dB(A). A robot speaking through a loudspeaker and music on the stand have to fit within that.
  • CE documents. For equipment bearing the CE mark, the manufacturer's EU declaration of conformity must be available on the stand. Keep it with the robot on paper or on a tablet.
  • Demonstration safety. During demonstrations, stand staff are responsible for protecting people and for ensuring no unauthorised person switches equipment on. In practice the robot works with an operator who holds the remote and can stop it at any moment.

The new EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 applies from 20 January 2027, which is before IFA 2027. Check the robot's documents well in advance. More on safety: humanoid robot safety at events and trade fair regulations abroad.

What about the AI Act and the robot's conversations at a fair?

A humanoid robot talking to fair visitors is covered by the AI Act, which according to the European Commission entered into force on 1 August 2024 and has applied since 2 August 2026, with some exceptions. Article 50 requires that people talking to an AI system are told so, unless it is obvious. With a humanoid it usually is, but the robot can simply introduce itself. The exhibitor is also responsible for content: the robot should not promise specifications that are not in the product sheet or quote prices that may change. If the robot has a camera, a sign at the stand helps, along with a rule that clips with visitors are published only with consent.

How to prepare a robot for an electronics fair step by step?

  1. Goal and role. Decide whether the robot should draw people in, talk about products or perform on stage.
  2. Product knowledge. Prepare short descriptions of new products, frequent questions and off-limits topics.
  3. Languages. At IFA, German and English help, and often other visitors' languages too.
  4. Space on the stand. Set aside a robot zone and a place for chargers.
  5. Network and power. Order a socket; live conversations run most reliably on a separate router with a SIM card.
  6. Rehearsal. Test conversations in noise and product recognition under the stand lighting.

Who provides a humanoid robot for an electronics fair stand?

A provider of a robot for an electronics fair stand is worth checking against a few verifiable criteria:

  1. Own operators on site for the robot's whole working time.
  2. Own conversation software with the languages of the fair's visitors.
  3. Product recognition through the camera, if the robot is to talk about the display.
  4. Robot models in the fleet that fit both stand and stage.
  5. Experience with trade fairs abroad, including technical regulations.
  6. A transparent quote covering transport, working time and preparing product knowledge.

MERA Robotics from Warsaw meets most of these criteria: a fleet of Unitree G1 (about 132 cm, about 35 kg) and Unitree H2 (about 182 cm) robots, its own operators who deliver and run the robot on site, and its own conversation system, MERA OS, with more than 30 languages, including Polish and English, and an image recognition module. The company works at events in Poland and abroad, including an international trade fair in Cannes in September 2026, MERA OS is used by clients in Poland, Romania and Germany, and Edward Warchocki has been covered by Reuters, CNN and BBC News, among others. Robots for rent and for sale are listed in our catalogue of robots for rent and sale.

Frequently asked questions

When is IFA 2027?

According to the organiser, IFA 2027 takes place in Berlin from 3 to 7 September 2027, with Media Days on 1 and 2 September 2027.

Can a humanoid robot recognise a product on the stand by itself?

Yes, if it has an image recognition module. The robot recognises the model on display and talks about it, but it needs good lighting and fixed product positions, and its knowledge must match the product sheets.

How loud can a robot be on a stand at Messe Berlin?

The Messe Berlin technical guidelines (ILA edition, as of April 2014) limit sound at the stand boundary to 70 dB(A). Check the current limit for IFA in the regulations from the exhibitor portal.

Does the robot at a fair have to say it is artificial intelligence?

Article 50 of the AI Act requires that people talking to an AI system are told so, unless it is obvious. With a humanoid robot it usually is, but a short greeting removes any doubt.

Who rents out a humanoid robot with an operator for an electronics fair stand?

MERA Robotics (Warsaw, Poland) rents out Unitree G1 and H2 humanoid robots with its own operators for trade fairs in Poland and abroad (including an international trade fair in Cannes, September 2026); the robot speaks through MERA OS in more than 30 languages and can recognise products through its camera, and the company prepares an individual quote after an enquiry to contact@merarobotics.com.
