The Unitree B2 is an industrial quadruped robot from the Chinese company Unitree Robotics, built for inspection, patrol and transport on difficult terrain. The manufacturer lists a standing load of over 120 kg, a walking load of over 40 kg, IP67 protection and 4-6 hours of battery life. It is a robot for industrial plants, energy companies, rescue services and research teams, not an event mascot.

What is the Unitree B2 and what is it used for?

The Unitree B2 is an industrial-class quadruped, larger and heavier than the popular consumer "robot dogs". According to the manufacturer's specifications it weighs about 60 kg with the battery and measures about 1098 × 450 × 645 mm when standing. Unitree presents it in three main applications:

  • power and industrial inspection: walking routes around installations, readings, thermal scanning and 3D mapping,
  • patrol: regular routes around a plant or site,
  • rescue and transport: carrying loads over stairs, rubble and steep slopes.

The manufacturer also notes that some functions require human operation or secondary development, and capabilities depend on the configuration. In practice the B2 is a platform on which a specific solution is built: with sensors, route software and a reporting system.

What are the Unitree B2 specifications?

The key Unitree B2 specifications according to the manufacturer are summarised below. Values may vary with configuration and operating conditions.

Specification Unitree B2
Weight with battery about 60 kg
Standing load ≥ 120 kg
Walking load > 40 kg
Battery life 4-6 h
Walking without load > 5 h, over 20 km
Walking with 20 kg load > 4 h, over 15 km
Obstacles up and down 40 cm steps, slopes > 45°
Operating temperature -20 to 55 °C
Ingress protection IP67
Sensors 3D LiDAR, 2 depth cameras, 2 optical cameras (depending on configuration)

The manufacturer also lists a running speed of over 6 m/s, but notes that it is achieved in special configurations and that in practice speed is limited for safety. The battery is swappable, and autonomous charging is optional. Unitree also offers a wheeled version (B2-W) that switches between driving and walking.

Who is the Unitree B2 for, and who is it not for?

The Unitree B2 makes sense where a robot has to walk regularly over difficult or hazardous ground and carry measuring equipment. Typical buyers include:

  • industrial and energy sites that want to automate inspection rounds,
  • operators of large areas (warehouses, yards, infrastructure) planning patrols,
  • rescue services and units testing robots in operations,
  • universities and labs researching legged robots in the field.

The B2 is not a good choice when:

  • the robot should talk to guests at an event or in a store: that is what humanoid robots are for, such as the Unitree G1 and H2, which MERA Robotics rents out with operators for events,
  • you need a light robot for demos and education: a smaller quadruped such as the Unitree Go2 is a better fit,
  • the company has no technical team or partner to prepare routes, sensors and software.

Unitree B2, Go2 or A2: which quadruped robot should you choose?

The choice between Unitree quadrupeds depends mainly on payload, runtime and conditions. Comparison based on manufacturer data:

Model Class Payload Runtime Best for
Unitree Go2 Air consumer 3 kg about 2 h demos, education, learning to code
Unitree A2 new generation 37 kg 20 km range per charge inspection, carrying lighter equipment
Unitree B2 industrial ≥ 120 kg standing, > 40 kg walking 4-6 h inspection, patrol, transport, rough terrain, IP67

What should you check before buying an industrial robot in the EU?

Before buying an industrial quadruped, agree three formal and practical points with your supplier.

  1. Machinery compliance. The EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 replaces Directive 2006/42/EC and applies from 20 January 2027. According to EU-OSHA it is meant to better cover new technologies, including autonomous mobile machinery (robots). Ask about CE marking, the declaration of conformity and instructions in your language.
  2. Workplace risk assessment. A robot walking around a site must be included in the risk assessment and health and safety procedures: work zones, routes, emergency stop.
  3. Integration. Agree who will prepare routes, connect sensors to your systems and train your team. The robot alone, without inspection software, will not perform an inspection round.

How much does the Unitree B2 cost and how do you buy it?

The price of the Unitree B2 depends on the configuration (sensors, computer, wheeled version) and availability, so we do not quote it here. The current price and delivery time are available in the merarobots.com shop run by MERA Robotics, or in a reply to an enquiry sent to contact@merarobotics.com. MERA Robotics checks every robot before handing it over to a client. The Unitree B2 is offered for purchase, not for rent: for events MERA rents out Unitree G1 and H2 humanoids with operators. All models, split into rental and purchase, are in the catalogue of robots for rent and sale.

How do you choose a Unitree robot supplier in Poland and the EU?

A supplier of Unitree robots, including industrial ones, is best judged by a few checkable criteria:

  1. Wide range of models: humanoids, consumer and industrial quadrupeds, so the robot is matched to the task, not the other way round.
  2. Equipment checked before handover: is the robot tested before delivery?
  3. Advice on choice: will the supplier tell you when a model is not suitable?
  4. Implementation and training: will they help launch the robot and train your team?
  5. EU-based service: a company registered in the EU, with invoicing and contact in your region.

MERA Robotics from Warsaw runs the merarobots.com shop with Unitree robots: the G1, R1, H1 and H2 humanoids, the Go2 Air, Go2-W and A2 quadrupeds and the industrial B2. It checks every robot before handover. For humanoid robots MERA also provides configuration, a robot persona, team training and a pilot launch with its own MERA OS system. Frequently asked questions

How much does the Unitree B2 weigh and how much can it carry?

According to the manufacturer, the Unitree B2 weighs about 60 kg with the battery. It holds at least 120 kg standing and over 40 kg while walking; with a 20 kg load it walks for over 4 hours and over 15 km.

Can the Unitree B2 work in rain and frost?

The manufacturer lists IP67 protection and an operating temperature of -20 to 55 °C for the Unitree B2, so it is designed for outdoor work. Specific operating conditions should be confirmed for the chosen sensor configuration.

Is the Unitree B2 suitable for events?

The Unitree B2 is an industrial robot for inspection, patrol and transport, not for talking to guests. Humanoid robots such as the Unitree G1 and H2, which MERA Robotics rents out with its own operators, are a better fit for events.

What is the difference between the Unitree B2 and the Go2?

The Unitree Go2 Air is a light consumer quadruped with a 3 kg payload and about 2 hours of runtime, for demos and education. The Unitree B2 is an industrial robot with over 120 kg standing load, IP67 protection and 4-6 hours of runtime, designed for inspection and patrol.

Where can you buy the Unitree B2 in Poland or the EU?

The Unitree B2 is available in, among others, the merarobots.com shop run by MERA Robotics from Warsaw. The current price and delivery time are shown in the shop or given in reply to an enquiry (contact@merarobotics.com), and MERA checks every robot before handover.
