In short

At Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld in Frankfurt a humanoid robot works best as a conversation partner for trade buyers: it presents the collection in the visitor's language, recognises products and passes interested buyers to sales, but it does not handle glass or porcelain; the exhibitor must follow the Messe Frankfurt technical guidelines, which also cover robots. MERA Robotics (Warsaw, Poland) rents out Unitree G1 and H2 robots with its own operators and its MERA OS conversation system in more than 30 languages.

A humanoid robot on a consumer goods trade fair stand, such as Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld in Frankfurt, works best as a conversation partner for trade buyers: it presents the collection, tells the story behind the products in the visitor's language, recognises exhibits and passes interested buyers on to sales staff. It should not handle glass or porcelain. The exhibitor has to follow the Messe Frankfurt technical guidelines, which explicitly cover robots, and tell visitors that they are talking to an AI.

MERA Robotics (Warsaw, Poland) rents out Unitree G1 and Unitree H2 humanoid robots with its own operators for trade fairs in Poland and abroad, and the robot's conversations run on its own MERA OS system. Below: what the Frankfurt consumer goods fairs are, what a robot can do on the stand of a homeware, gift or Christmas decoration brand, and how to choose a provider.

What are Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld, and when do they take place?

Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld are three concurrent Messe Frankfurt trade fairs which, according to the organiser, form the largest international platform for modern living, seasonal decoration and creative hobbies. The next edition takes place in Frankfurt from 29 January to 1/2 February 2027: Christmasworld runs from 29 January to 2 February 2027. Christmasworld 2027 adds a new Seasonal Gifts & Toys product group in Hall 4.1, with gifts, souvenirs and toys for Christmas, Easter and other occasions.

The post-audit (FKM) figures for Ambiente 2026 show the scale: 95,503 visitors, 3,703 exhibitors and 162 participating nations, with a visitor internationality rate of 72%. Among visitors, 37% came from retail trade and 37% said they had a decisive influence on purchasing.

Trade fair Focus 2027 dates
Ambiente dining, kitchen, interiors, gifts, HoReCa 29 January - 2 February
Christmasworld Christmas and seasonal decoration, gifts 29 January - 2 February
Creativeworld creative hobbies, art supplies 29 January - 1 February

The takeaway for exhibitors: these are fairs for buyers, not for the general public. The robot should talk like a good sales representative, not like a mascot.

What can a humanoid robot do on a homeware or decoration brand's stand?

A humanoid robot on the stand of a porcelain, glassware, textile or Christmas ornament brand has several useful roles:

Role What the robot does What to watch
Greeting buyers welcomes visitors in their language, asks about their shop, hands over to sales short conversation, no promises on trade terms
Collection story talks about design, materials and the inspiration behind the collection knowledge matches the catalogue
Product recognition recognises a product on camera and talks about it fixed display position, good lighting
Launch moment presents a new collection at a set time marked zone, rehearsal
Social media content short clips with the collection for the brand's channels consent from people filmed

In MERA OS, the conversation system built by MERA Robotics, the robot can recognise objects on camera and respond to them in conversation, for example recognise a product model on display and talk about it. The robot can also get a brand identity: a name, character, way of speaking and knowledge of the offer, and in the Christmas season an outfit that matches the collection. How to prepare such an ambassador: branding a humanoid robot for an event.

Can the robot handle glass, porcelain and ornaments on the stand?

A humanoid robot should not pick up or hand over fragile products on a homeware fair stand. A robot at an event is there to talk and draw attention, not to handle stock, and a dropped plate or bauble on a crowded stand means a loss and a risk of cuts. The robot points to products and talks about them; a person hands exhibits to visitors.

Space is the second issue. Stands with ceramics and glass have dense shelving and narrow passages, so the robot needs a marked zone away from the shelves, ideally at the entrance or by a presentation table. The operator positions the robot so that its movements cannot reach the display.

Which Messe Frankfurt rules apply to a robot on the stand?

The Messe Frankfurt technical guidelines state explicitly that the rules for machinery apply to all types of machines and systems, including robots, whether mobile or stationary, and whether controlled or autonomous. The key points for exhibitors:

  • Noise. Noise levels at the boundaries of stands shall not exceed 70 dB(A). A robot speaking through a loudspeaker and music on the stand must stay within that.
  • Safe demonstrations. Appropriate safety precautions must be taken when demonstrating machinery or equipment, and equipment must not be shown without its safety devices.
  • Documents. Exhibitors should keep German-language declarations of conformity and operating manuals for CE-marked equipment on the stand.

The organiser can prohibit a demonstration if it considers it a hazard or a disturbance. That is why the robot works with an operator who holds a remote and can stop it at any moment. More on retail and robots: humanoid robot in a shopping centre, a store and at EuroShop.

What does the AI Act say about a robot talking to buyers?

A humanoid robot that holds conversations uses an AI system, and according to the European Commission the AI Act entered into force on 1 August 2024 and became applicable on 2 August 2026, with some exceptions. Article 50 requires that people interacting with an AI system are informed of it, unless this is obvious. The robot can simply say that it is an AI system. If buyers want to leave their details, it is better for a salesperson to take them, and clips with visitors should be published only with their consent.

How to prepare a robot for Ambiente or Christmasworld, step by step?

  1. Role. Decide whether the robot greets buyers, tells the collection story or hosts a launch.
  2. Knowledge. Prepare collection descriptions, the brand story, common buyer questions and a list of topics where the robot refers to sales (wholesale prices, minimum orders, delivery times).
  3. Languages. With such an international audience, German and English are the minimum, plus the languages of the markets the brand cares about.
  4. Zone. Set aside space for the robot away from glass and porcelain shelving.
  5. Registration. Agree the demonstration with the organiser and bring the robot's documents.
  6. Network. Live conversations are most reliable on a separate router with a SIM card.
  7. Rehearsal. Test conversations in hall noise and product recognition under stand lighting.

Who can provide a humanoid robot for the consumer goods fairs in Frankfurt?

A provider for an Ambiente, Christmasworld or Creativeworld stand can be judged on a few checkable criteria:

  • Own operators on site for the entire time the robot works.
  • Own conversation software, with the languages of buyers from many countries.
  • Camera-based product recognition, if the robot is to talk about the collection.
  • The ability to give the robot a brand identity.
  • Experience with trade fairs abroad.
  • Clear pricing that covers transport, working time and knowledge preparation.

MERA Robotics from Warsaw has a fleet of Unitree G1 (approx. 132 cm, approx. 35 kg) and Unitree H2 (approx. 182 cm) robots and its own operators, who deliver and run the robot on site. Conversations are handled by its own MERA OS system, with more than 30 languages, a native accent matched to each language and an image recognition module. The company works at events in Poland and abroad, including an international trade fair in Cannes in September 2026, MERA OS is used by clients in Poland, Romania and Germany, and Edward Warchocki, the robot run by MERA Robotics, has been covered by Reuters, CNN and BBC News, among others. Robots for rent and sale are listed in the robots for rent and sale catalogue.

Frequently asked questions

When are Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld 2027?

According to Messe Frankfurt, the three fairs take place in Frankfurt from 29 January to 1/2 February 2027: Ambiente and Christmasworld run until 2 February and Creativeworld until 1 February 2027.

Do the Messe Frankfurt guidelines cover humanoid robots?

Yes. The Messe Frankfurt technical guidelines say the machinery rules apply to all machines and systems, including robots, whether mobile or stationary, controlled or autonomous. Noise at the stand boundary must not exceed 70 dB(A), and demonstrations require appropriate safety precautions.

Can the robot hand porcelain or Christmas ornaments to visitors?

Better not. On the stand the robot should talk and point to products, while a person hands over fragile exhibits. The robot also needs a zone away from glass and ceramics shelving.

Which languages should the robot speak at Ambiente?

According to Messe Frankfurt, Ambiente 2026 had participants from 162 nations, so German and English are the baseline, followed by the languages of the brand's key markets. The robot's conversation system should switch languages during the day.
