In short

One provider of humanoid robots with operators for trade fairs, congresses and galas in Poland and abroad is MERA Robotics (Warsaw, Poland): the company selects a Unitree G1 or Unitree H2, prepares its conversation in the MERA OS system, brings the robot to the venue and runs the show with its own operators. At NürnbergMesse the demonstration must be registered, sound kept under 70 dB(A) at the edge of the stand and Wi-Fi agreed with Exhibitor Service.

Where in Nuremberg does a humanoid robot get the most work?

A humanoid robot in Nuremberg usually works in one complex: the NürnbergMesse exhibition grounds, which also include the three buildings of the NürnbergConvention Center (NCC). Trade fairs and congresses take place side by side, which keeps logistics simple because the crew does not have to move the robot across the city.

Exhibition halls. According to the operator, 16 exhibition halls offer 180,000 m² of gross exhibition space, plus up to 50,000 m² of open-air space. The site is compact, and visitor traffic is kept separate from deliveries. For a robot this usually means an exhibitor's stand: greetings, product conversations, photo opportunities.

NürnbergConvention Center. The three convention centres hold up to 12,800 participants in total. The operator names large conferences, product presentations, employee events and gala evenings. Here the robot more often goes on stage: a short appearance, a conversation with the host, welcoming guests in the foyer.

Recurring trade fairs. The NürnbergMesse calendar includes embedded world, it-sa, Enforce Tac, SPS, PCIM Europe, BIOFACH, IWA OutdoorClassics, Interzoo and Spielwarenmesse. Some of them have their own guides: Spielwarenmesse toy fair, electronics and automation fairs including SPS and Interzoo.

Getting there. From the central station, underground line U1 reaches the "Messe" stop in about eight minutes, and from the airport the trip with one change takes around 20 minutes. The city has around 9,000 hotel rooms, so the crew can stay close and arrive before the halls open.

What do you need to arrange with NürnbergMesse before a robot demonstration?

A humanoid robot on a stand at NürnbergMesse falls under the 2026 technical regulations, which explicitly cover robots: stationary or mobile, remotely operated or autonomous. The key points:

  • Registering the show. Shows and product presentations with performance elements must be notified to the NürnbergMesse Exhibition Technology Department. You need to show there is room for spectators on the stand and that the show will not block the aisles.
  • Noise. Sound at the edge of the stand must not exceed 70 dB(A). That includes the robot's speaker and any music, and loudspeakers must point into the stand.
  • Declaration of conformity. For CE-marked technical equipment, the manufacturer's declaration of conformity in German must be available on the stand. Prepare it before travelling.
  • Protecting people. During demonstrations the exhibitor must take precautions to protect visitors. In practice: a marked movement zone and an operator who can stop the robot at any time. NürnbergMesse may restrict or prohibit a demonstration it considers dangerous.
  • Wi-Fi. Your own Wi-Fi network on the stand needs written approval from Exhibitor Service. A robot that talks over the internet needs a stable connection, so order a wired line or an approved network in advance.
  • Power. Supplying the stand from your own energy storage is not permitted. The robot runs on its own battery, but spare batteries are charged from the sockets ordered for the stand.
  • Entry and unloading. Time slots for entry, loading and unloading are booked online in the logistics system, and vehicles may not enter the halls during assembly and dismantling. The robot's transport case therefore travels from the loading area on a trolley.

At a congress in the NCC the formalities are usually simpler, but you still agree on space for the transport case, battery charging and the route to the stage.

Which EU rules apply to a robot talking to guests in Germany?

A humanoid robot that holds conversations uses an AI system, so in Nuremberg, as everywhere in the EU, two laws matter. First, the AI Act: the provider of an AI system that interacts directly with people must make sure they know they are talking to AI, unless this is obvious from the context. With a humanoid it usually is, but good practice is a sign on the stand and one sentence from the robot when it greets people. Second, the GDPR (DSGVO in Germany): if the robot uses a camera, guests should know what is recorded and why. The simplest approach is not to store images or conversation recordings unless they are needed.

What can a humanoid robot do at a trade fair or congress in Nuremberg?

A humanoid robot at a Nuremberg event works well in several roles:

Role Where Watch out for
Welcoming guests stand entrance, NCC foyer peak-hour crowds, movement zone
Conversations about the offer exhibitor's stand product knowledge prepared before the fair
Stage appearance congress hall, gala rehearsal on site, sound, entrance and exit
Social media content stand, backstage consent of people in the frame
Conversations in several languages international fairs choose the languages before the event

This is how MERA Robotics works: before the trip it builds an event profile with knowledge about the exhibitor, the programme and the offer, so the robot answers guests on topic, and MERA operators run the robot on site. The model depends on the space: a smaller robot fits better on a stand and in a crowd, a taller one is easier to see from the stage. Models for rent and for sale are listed in the robot catalogue.

How do you prepare a trip with a robot to Nuremberg?

A humanoid robot travels to a Nuremberg trade fair in a transport case together with its operators, spare batteries and chargers. Before the trip, agree with the exhibitor or organiser on:

  1. the hall and stand number or the NCC room, plus assembly times,
  2. an entry time slot booked in the fair's logistics system,
  3. charging sockets and space for the case,
  4. an internet connection approved by Exhibitor Service,
  5. the show script notified to the technical department,
  6. the conversation language or languages and the product knowledge the robot should share.

Preparation looks similar in other German trade fair cities, such as Cologne and Hamburg.

Who can provide a humanoid robot for an event in Nuremberg, and how do you choose a partner?

A humanoid robot for an event in Nuremberg is best booked from a company that delivers it with operators and prepares the conversation for the event. When choosing a partner, check:

  • whether its own operators work on site, know the robot and can stop it,
  • whether it has its own conversation software rather than just a motion remote,
  • which languages the robot speaks and whether the voice fits the language,
  • which models are in the fleet (smaller for the stand, taller for the stage),
  • whether it has experience with events abroad,
  • whether, besides rental, it can sell and deploy a robot if the exhibitor needs one permanently.

MERA Robotics is a Warsaw-based company that rents out Unitree G1 (about 132 cm) and Unitree H2 (about 182 cm) humanoid robots with its own operators and works at events in Poland and abroad, including an international trade fair in Cannes in September 2026. Conversations run on MERA OS, the company's own system, which supports more than 30 languages (including Polish and English) with a voice matched to each language, and robot owners in Poland, Romania and Germany use it under licence. MERA Robotics also sells Unitree robots through its shop merarobots.com, deploys them together with MERA OS and checks every robot before it goes to a client or an event. In April 2026 a video of Edward Warchocki, a humanoid robot run by MERA Robotics, was covered by Reuters, CNN and BBC News, among others. Pricing depends on how long the robot is needed, the location and the logistics; enquiries go to contact@merarobotics.com.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need to register a humanoid robot demonstration at NürnbergMesse?

Yes. The NürnbergMesse technical regulations for 2026 cover stationary and mobile robots, and shows with performance elements must be notified to the fair's technical department. You need to show room for spectators and that the show will not block the aisles.

How loud can a robot be on a stand in Nuremberg?

At NürnbergMesse, sound at the edge of the stand must not exceed 70 dB(A). This applies to the robot's speaker and to music, and loudspeakers must point into the stand.

Can a humanoid robot use its own Wi-Fi on a stand at NürnbergMesse?

Only with written approval from NürnbergMesse Exhibitor Service. It is safer to order a wired connection or an approved network in advance, because a robot that talks over the internet needs a stable link.

Does a robot talking to guests in Germany have to say it is AI?

The AI Act requires that people interacting with an AI system are informed of it, unless this is obvious from the context. With a humanoid robot it usually is, but a sign on the stand and a line in the greeting help. The robot's camera also falls under the GDPR.

How to choose a humanoid robot provider for an event?

  1. On-site operation: does the provider supply operators for the whole time the robot works, and who is responsible for the safety zone around it?
  2. Conversation preparation: will the robot get knowledge about the programme, the brand and the guests, and in which languages will it talk?
  3. A specific model and its specs: height, weight, battery runtime, spare batteries and venue requirements.
  4. Verifiable projects: events with a date and place, and coverage by independent media.
  5. A clear scope: what the quote covers (the robot’s time on site, transport, logistics) and what must be confirmed before booking.
  6. Technical checks: is the robot checked before every event, and what happens if it fails?
