Galaxea R1 Pro is a full-size wheeled humanoid from Beijing-based Galaxea, with two 7-DoF arms and an articulated torso on an omnidirectional base. It is used mainly as a platform for AI research and robot-learning data collection, as well as for work in industrial sites.
Hardware
According to the product sheet, R1 Pro is 1,700 mm tall and weighs 126 kg with battery. It has 26 degrees of freedom: 7 per arm, 4 in the torso and 6 in the chassis, plus one per gripper. The torso gives a vertical reach from floor level to 2 m. It does not walk; it drives omnidirectionally at up to 1.5 m/s.
Each arm reaches 860 mm, carries 3.5 kg rated (5 kg max) and repeats to ±0.5 mm. The standard force-controlled parallel grippers open to 100 mm with 150 N rated and 350 N peak force. Dexterous hands, RealSense D405 wrist cameras and fisheye cameras are optional. Compute is an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin 32 GB (200 TOPS).
Software and AI
Galaxea provides an SDK (version 2.4.0 in 2026 for the refreshed R1 Pro and R1 Lite), its own G0-family VLA models and the open Galaxea Open dataset. The robot is designed as a base for teleoperation data collection and training manipulation policies.
Use cases and deployments
Named R1-series customers include US firm Physical Intelligence and Stanford University. Chinese carmakers were expected to use R1 robots to move parts in their plants from late 2025, but industrial customers are not disclosed. In 2025 Galaxea planned to ship up to 1,000 robots, roughly half in China and half abroad.
Manufacturer
Galaxea was founded in 2023 in Beijing's Zhongguancun district and manufactures in Suzhou. Founders include CEO Gao Jiyang and scientist Xu Huazhe. In July 2025 it raised more than $100 million in a Series A at a $700 million valuation, with investors including Capital Today, Ant Group and Meituan's venture arm.
Price and availability
Galaxea's online store lists R1 Pro at $69,999 with two arms and grippers, excluding dexterous hands and VR teleoperation gear, but notes it is not currently available for direct purchase and buyers should contact sales. Forbes reported in 2025 that R1-series robots sold in China for 320,000 to 459,900 yuan depending on configuration.
