KUAVO 5 (Kuafu 5) is the fifth iteration of the full-size humanoid from Leju Robotics of Shenzhen, China. It launched in October 2025 together with the wheeled KUAVO 5-W and entered series production in spring 2026. The KUAVO line provides most of Leju's revenue.
History and launch
Leju introduced its first full-size KUAVO in December 2023 (the version known as KUAVO 3) and announced mass production straight away. That robot weighed about 45 kg, had 26 degrees of freedom and walked at up to 4.6 km/h. KUAVO 4 and 4 Pro followed in 2024, then KUAVO 5 and 5-W in October 2025: five iterations in under three years.
According to IT Home, KUAVO 5 spent 4-5 months being refined on Leju's pilot line in Longhua, Shenzhen, before moving into series production in April 2026.
Design and technology
In the sources we could verify (Leju's own product page loads its data dynamically) we did not find a confirmed KUAVO 5 spec sheet with height, weight and degree-of-freedom count. Figures in industry listings conflict, so we do not repeat them here.
Leju says more than 95% of KUAVO components are sourced domestically. The KUAVO that ran in a torch relay in November 2025 was a standard production unit with upgraded motion-control software; it carried 1.6 kg in one hand over 100 m.
Software and AI
Since the first version KUAVO has run an OpenHarmony-based operating system developed with Shenkaihong (KaihongOS). Leju works with Huawei, including a joint innovation center in Shenzhen, and in June 2025 showed a 5G-A connected humanoid with Huawei and China Mobile.
Applications and deployments
Leju's IPO prospectus shows 577 KUAVO robots sold in 2025, up from 32 in 2024, generating 178 million yuan or 69.5% of company revenue. Training-data collection was the largest use (45%), followed by education and research (32.5%) and commercial services (18.7%); industrial manufacturing was under 4%.
A KUAVO 4 Pro was trialled at a FAW plant for material handling and picking. KUAVO robots have also appeared at public events, including the Shenzhen torch relay for China's National Games in November 2025.
Manufacturer
Leju (Shenzhen) Robotics was founded in 2016 by Harbin Institute of Technology alumni and is chaired by Leng Xiaokun. It started with small Aelos education robots before adding mid-size Roban and full-size KUAVO models. In October 2025 it raised about 1.5 billion yuan (around 200 million dollars) ahead of a listing, and on 19 May 2026 the Shenzhen Stock Exchange accepted its ChiNext IPO application. Tencent indirectly holds 7.32%.
Revenue rose from 56 million yuan in 2024 to 258 million yuan in 2025, with a net loss of about 70 million yuan. Omdia and Counterpoint ranked Leju fourth worldwide by humanoid units shipped in 2025.
Price and availability
Leju does not publish KUAVO 5 pricing. The average selling price of KUAVO robots fell 25.56% in 2025; in 2023 Leju put the first KUAVO at several hundred thousand yuan.
