GR-3 is the third-generation humanoid from Shanghai-based Fourier, introduced in 2025. Unlike earlier models, Fourier positions it as a care and companion robot (a "Care-bot"), with a soft upholstered body, touch sensors and an emotion-aware interaction system. The GR-3C variant targets more functional and research work.
History and launch
Fourier introduced the GR-3 series in 2025, alongside the open-source N1 humanoid and the open Fourier ActionNet motion dataset; the series brochure is dated September 2025. Fourier frames GR-3 with the motto "Love, above all functionality": building a relationship with people first and doing tasks second.
The series has two models: GR-3, nicknamed "Meow-bot", for public-space interaction, elderly care and companionship for children, and GR-3C "Cosmo", with a harder white shell and optional LiDAR, aimed at research, higher-risk work and rehabilitation.
Hardware
Fourier's spec sheet lists GR-3 at 1642 mm and about 71 kg, with up to 55 actuators in the 12-DoF-hand version: 2 in the head, 3 in the waist, 6 per leg, 7 per arm and 6 in the basic hand. Peak torque is 440 Nm, walking speed is at least 5.5 km/h and single-arm payload is about 3 kg.
Two hot-swappable batteries (702 Wh and 234 Wh) give about three hours on average and recharge in about 1.5 hours. The standard computer is an 8-core AMD Ryzen running Ubuntu 22.04, with NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin or Thor as options.
Instead of a metal shell, GR-3 wears automotive upholstery (Alcantara) over foam on an aluminium and engineering-plastic frame. Thirty-one pressure sensors (16 on the head, 15 on the torso) let it respond to touch, and an LED face shows expressions.
Software and AI
Fourier's multimodal interaction system combines stereo vision, a four-microphone array with sound-source localisation, and touch. Rule-based control handles quick reflexes while a large language model handles complex conversation. GR-3 tracks faces and turns towards whoever is speaking.
The series supports whole-body teleoperation via motion capture and custom algorithm development on a client-server architecture for researchers and integrators.
Use cases and deployments
Fourier lists commercial services such as reception, rehabilitation and wellness, research and light industrial tasks as target uses. It has not published unit sales or named GR-3 customers.
Manufacturer
Fourier was founded in 2015 by Alex Gu. It started with rehabilitation robots and exoskeletons and has built humanoids since 2019 (GR-1 in 2023, GR-2 in 2024, GR-3 in 2025). It is headquartered in Shanghai.
Price and availability
Fourier does not publish a GR-3 price. Extended configurations (hands, LiDAR, more compute) are available through sales.

Data and provenance for AI agents ↗Compared with the catalogue
- At 164 cm the Fourier Intelligence GR-3 is taller than 29% of the humanoids in the catalogue (median: 170 cm).
- It has 44 degrees of freedom against a catalogue median of 28; more degrees of freedom usually means finer arm and hand movement.
- Its weight of 71 kg (catalogue median: 65 kg) matters for transport and for working around people.
- It is one of 4 Fourier Intelligence models in the catalogue and one of 128 humanoids from China.
