HMND 01 Alpha is the humanoid from London-based Humanoid (SKL Robotics Ltd), built in two variants: an industrial wheeled robot (Alpha Wheeled) and a bipedal one (Alpha Bipedal). The wheeled version is moving from pilots to deployments at Schaeffler, Siemens and other partners.

History and launch

Humanoid was founded in 2024 by Artem Sokolov. The company says HMND 01 Alpha Wheeled was built in seven months and the bipedal version in five, walking stably after just 48 hours of training.

In 2026 the robot went through a string of pilots in working plants: with SAP and Martur Fompak in automotive production logistics in March, and at Siemens' electronics factory in Erlangen in April. A strategic partnership with Schaeffler was announced in January 2026 and a binding deployment agreement in May. Beta-version robots are due at customer sites in Q4 2026.

Hardware

Alpha Wheeled weighs 300 kg, stands 220 cm tall and has 29 degrees of freedom excluding end effectors. It drives on an omnidirectional base at up to 2 m/s (7.2 km/h), carries 15 kg and averages four hours of runtime. Its head carries 360-degree RGB cameras and two depth sensors.

Alpha Bipedal is 179 cm tall, weighs 90 kg, has 29 degrees of freedom, reaches 2 m/s and also carries 15 kg for about four hours. An RL-trained whole-body controller handles curved walking, turning in place, side and backward steps, squatting, hopping and running. The head adds a display, LEDs, a six-microphone array and speakers.

Both share modular end effectors (a 12-DoF five-finger hand or a parallel gripper), wrist cameras, six-axis force-torque sensors, haptic sensors and interchangeable protective garments.

Software and AI

The robot runs KinetIQ, Humanoid's four-layer AI stack on NVIDIA compute. It orchestrates fleets of robots with different bodies, wheeled and bipedal, and accepts tasks from enterprise systems: in the SAP pilot, SAP's warehouse software dispatched jobs to the robot through the Joule agent layer. KinetIQ Ascend adds reinforcement learning on real tasks through trial and error.

Use cases and deployments

The Schaeffler agreement targets a four-digit number of wheeled units across Schaeffler's facilities by 2032 under a robot-as-a-service model. The first phase, December 2026 to June 2027, covers the Herzogenaurach and Schweinfurt sites. Schaeffler will also supply more than half of the actuators for Humanoid's wheeled platforms through 2031.

In the Siemens and Martur Fompak pilots the robot autonomously picked, carried and placed totes. Humanoid also lists Bosch and NVIDIA as partners.

Manufacturer

Humanoid (SKL Robotics Ltd) is headquartered in London with offices in Boston and Vancouver and about 300 staff. In July 2026 it raised a $152 million Series A at a $1.35 billion post-money valuation, led by Prime Movers Lab with Schaeffler and Bosch among the participants, bringing total funding to $270 million.

Price and availability

The robot is not sold at retail. Humanoid runs an early-access program and offers robots as a service, bundled with fleet software, maintenance and support. No price is published.
