Skywalker II is a full-size humanoid from EIR (Sichuan Embodied Humanoid Robotics Technology) of Chengdu, China. The base version stands 165 cm, weighs 55 kg and has 29 degrees of freedom excluding hands. EIR also offers a half-body version on a fixed base for manipulation work.
History and launch
EIR was founded in September 2024. The company says its first robot, Skywalker I, was built in 69 days and was Sichuan's first commercial humanoid, with more than 90% locally sourced components. Skywalker II, described as a general-purpose full-size humanoid platform, took nine months to develop. EIR's website does not give an exact launch date.
Design and technology
The base Skywalker II is 165 cm tall, weighs 55 kg and has 29 degrees of freedom without dexterous hands. The waist has 3 DoF and each leg 6 (hip 3, knee 1, ankle 2). Peak torque in the thigh joints reaches 320 Nm. The frame uses aerospace aluminum, engineering plastic and rubber, power comes from a 48 V hot-swappable battery with fast charging, and motion control runs on an Intel i9-12900HK.
The half-body version has an adjustable height of 1.35-1.6 m, weighs 103.3 kg and has 17 DoF without hands. It adds an NVIDIA Orin NX Super 16 GB module, an Intel RealSense D435i depth camera, a 2K flexible head display, microphones and optional dexterous hands and six-axis force sensors.
Software and AI
EIR follows what it calls an ELA (Emotion-Language-Action) approach, in which the robot responds to a person's emotions as well as commands. The company says it will open documentation for its motion-control algorithms, a 3D perception SDK and hardware interface protocols. Software updates are delivered remotely.
Applications and deployments
EIR lists human interaction, research and education, industrial inspection and training-data collection. It leads the build-out of a provincial humanoid training ground in Sichuan. No sales figures are given.
Manufacturer
Sichuan Embodied Humanoid Robotics Technology (EIR) is based in Chengdu's Shuangliu district. Besides the Skywalker series it makes the emotion-focused humanoid AiQ and the LingTong quadruped series.
