Tiangong Omni is a small humanoid from the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center (X-Humanoid), designed as an open platform for research, education, guided tours and performances. It stands 135 cm, weighs 39.5 kg and has 31 degrees of freedom, and it is the smallest model in the Tiangong family alongside the full-size Tiangong 3.0.
What it is and who it is for
X-Humanoid calls Omni "the world's first open base for Humanoid Native embodied-AI tasks": a lightweight robot meant to take small humanoids out of labs and into real use. Near-term targets are universities, research institutes, schools and robot competitions (custom development and hands-on training) plus science centres, trade fairs, museums and shops (tours, guiding and basic shows).
Longer term, X-Humanoid points to home and elderly care (companionship, meal delivery, tidying) and industrial tasks in unstructured spaces such as inspections, sorting and fire-equipment checks. These are stated directions, not documented deployments.
Hardware
Omni comes in flagship, standard and basic editions. The flagship is 135 cm and 39.5 kg with 31 DoF: 6 per leg, 7 per arm, 3 at the waist and 2 in the neck. A 2070 TFLOPS AI controller lets it run end-to-end vision-language-action models on board.
It carries a depth camera, LiDAR and a high-precision IMU. X-Humanoid lists standing, walking, running, obstacle crossing, highly dynamic motion and mobile manipulation, plus self-recovery after falls. It is rated IP53, with a claimed lifetime of at least 15,000 hours and an operating range of -10 to 40°C. The flagship supports optional dexterous hands and VR or motion-capture rigs for data collection.
Software and AI
Interfaces are open at three levels: joints and sensors, system, and motion control. The robot connects to Huisi Kaiwu, X-Humanoid's general embodied-AI platform, which the company says lets one "brain" run different robot types, from arms to wheeled robots and humanoids.
Manufacturer
The Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center (brand X-Humanoid) was founded in November 2023. In October 2024 China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Beijing government designated it a national-local co-built embodied-AI robot innovation centre. It also develops the full-size Tiangong humanoids (now Tiangong 3.0), the Tianyi 2.0 robot and datasets such as RoboMIND.
