HIVA Haiwa is a home humanoid from Chinese appliance maker Haier, which calls it a "housework terminator". It has a torso and arms on a wheeled base, stands 165 cm and has 44 degrees of freedom. Revealed in July 2025, it currently performs tasks mostly under remote control by engineers.

History and launch

Haier revealed HIVA on 26 July 2025. In March 2025 Haier Smart Home's subsidiary Haier Brothers Robot Technology (Qingdao) had signed a strategic agreement with Beijing-based Robotera to co-develop home service robots, and IT Home noted that HIVA resembles the outline shown at that signing.

In February 2026 Haier described HIVA as its first household service robot, an evolution from cleaning robots toward embodied AI.

Design and technology

The robot is 165 cm tall, weighs 70 kg and has 44 degrees of freedom. It rolls on a wheeled base rather than walking, which helps stability but rules out stairs. Its reach covers everything from the floor to about 2 m.

Dexterous hands let it operate devices such as a powered floor washer and kitchen equipment. It is meant to work with Haier smart appliances, for example pairing with a washing machine to iron, fold and put away clothes.

Software and AI

Haier acknowledged that the demonstrated tasks are currently carried out by engineers through teleoperation. The sessions also collect data for training, with the goal of the robot eventually learning tasks on its own through imitation.

Applications and deployments

Target chores include cleaning, laundry and ironing, simple cooking and tidying rooms. As of October 2026 HIVA remains a prototype with no announced sale date.

Manufacturer

Haier is a Chinese appliance group headquartered in Qingdao. HIVA is developed by Haier Smart Home with Robotera, with which Haier also showed a bipedal humanoid called Xiaoxing at AWE 2025.
