FRIDAY is the first industrial humanoid from South Korea's Holiday Robotics, built for repetitive, physically demanding factory work. Its standout feature is a highly dexterous 20-DoF hand with tactile sensing. It is an industrial robot, not a conversational social humanoid.
Hardware
Holiday Robotics lists FRIDAY at 64 degrees of freedom in total, with two 7-DoF arms and 20-DoF hands with fully integrated tactile sensors. Each hand weighs 600 g including sensors, and every finger segment carries 5 kg. The company's job listings also mention a mobile base and head-mounted cameras.
Software and AI
The company builds its own simulator, Holiday Sim (also called Holiday-Newton in job listings), to model the robot and contact dynamics, plus a world-model-based simulator of neural networks that predict future states from physical understanding. FRIDAY fuses camera images, tactile data and joint state for grasping, in-hand reorientation, tool use and assembly.
In July 2026 the team's paper on FlashSAC, a reinforcement learning algorithm for high-DoF robots, won the Best Paper Award at RSS 2026, a first for a Korean team. According to the Seoul Economic Daily, it cut humanoid walking training from hours to minutes and is being applied to FRIDAY.
Manufacturer
Holiday Robotics Inc. has an office in Gangnam, Seoul, and a team in Mountain View, California. In July 2026 it announced a 155 billion won Series A. Its tagline is "Freeing Human Hands".
