MIRO (美罗, Meiluo) is the industrial humanoid series from Chinese appliance giant Midea, owner of KUKA. Its third generation, MIRO U, is a six-armed robot on a wheeled base, unveiled in December 2025 and headed for Midea's washing-machine plants.
History and launch
Midea began robotics research after setting up its central research institute in 2014, completed its acquisition of Germany's KUKA in 2017 and created a humanoid robot innovation center in 2024. The company says the MIRO series has gone through three generations.
On December 5, 2025, Midea vice president and CTO Wei Chang officially presented MIRO U for the first time at an economic forum in Guangzhou. Midea calls it a "super-humanoid" because rather than copying the human form it aims to exceed human physical limits at work.
Hardware
MIRO U is a wheeled humanoid with six human-like arms. It can raise and lower its body stably and rotate 360 degrees on the spot. The arms are precisely controlled and coordinated, and their end modules can be swapped quickly. Midea says the core technology was developed entirely in-house. It has not published detailed specifications such as dimensions, weight or degrees of freedom.
Use cases and deployments
MIRO U was due to enter Midea's high-end washing-machine factory in Wuxi at the end of 2025, where the company expects it to make line changeovers 30% more efficient. Midea follows an "industry first, then commerce, then home" approach: alongside the industrial MIRO line it is developing the Meila (美拉) series for stores and homes, which is due to guide customers and demonstrate products in Midea retail stores in 2026.
Manufacturer
Foshan-based Midea Group is one of the world's largest makers of home appliances and air conditioners. Its more than 100 smart factories double as testing grounds for robots. The robotics and automation segment, including KUKA, generated 22.9 billion yuan of revenue in the first three quarters of the year. Midea also runs a national key laboratory for heavy-load robots (Blue Orange Lab).
Price and availability
MIRO U is being developed for Midea's own factories and is not for sale. No price or external sales plans have been announced.
