The Bimanual Humanoid Robot is a two-armed humanoid from India's Svaya Robotics, a maker of six-axis collaborative robots. It has 17 actuators, two 7-DoF arms and a stereo camera in a pan-tilt head, and targets precision manipulation in factories.
Design and technology
Svaya says the robot has a human-like upper-body form with 17 actuators. Each arm has 7 degrees of freedom, and the body rotates a full 360 degrees to shorten cycle times. A modular wrist allows end effectors to be swapped for assembly, handling or pick-and-place, and Svaya claims sub-millimeter precision.
A pan-tilt head with integrated stereo vision gives a 3D view of the workspace. Dimensions, weight and payload have not been published.
Software and AI
Svaya focuses on dexterous manipulation driven by whole-body force control and vision. The robot is meant to detect objects, plan grasps and perform in-process visual inspection on its own, and the company is building a library of "atomic" AI skills to compose tasks across applications.
