Vesoma 1 is a humanoid under development by Vesoma, a European company with offices in Munich and Limassol, Cyprus. The company wants the robot to learn tasks mainly from its own experience through reinforcement learning rather than from human demonstrations alone, starting with manufacturing, logistics and warehousing.
History and launch
Vesoma was registered and began work in December 2025. In September 2026 it reported more than 60 staff, over 3,500 m² of lab and office space in Munich and Limassol, and its first in-house humanoid prototypes, which went from nothing to walking on a self-learned policy in six months.
On its website Vesoma 1 appears only as a design visualization marked "under development", while alpha robots are already running in the lab.
Design and hardware
Vesoma has not published dimensions, weight, joint count or payload. It says it designs the body from scratch for learning, with kinematics, actuation and sensing built for closed-loop training on real hardware. The human form is a deliberate choice because workplaces are built around it and it offers the clearest path to high-volume production.
Software and AI
The company is building a self-improving agent that learns by trial and error. Vesoma argues that robots trained only on human demonstrations fail once conditions drift from the examples. Its prototypes' gait was not hand-programmed; the robot worked out how to move by itself. The harder goal is extending this approach to manipulation and whole-body work.
AI research is led by Martin Riedmiller, formerly Research Director and Control Team Lead at Google DeepMind and a pioneer of data-efficient reinforcement learning. Safety is meant to shape the design from the first sketch.
Manufacturer
Vesoma was founded by CEO Nikolai Ensslen, co-founder of motion-control and functional-safety company Synapticon, and Peter Skoromnyi, co-founder of logic games maker Easybrain. The team includes Marcelo Gutierrez, who previously shaped hardware for Tesla Optimus and Apptronik Apollo, and people from Google DeepMind, 1X, Amazon, Franka Robotics, NEURA Robotics and BMW.
Price and availability
The robot is in development; no price or sale date has been announced.
