History and launch

Apptronik unveiled Apollo on 23 August 2023, saying it built on more than ten earlier robots, including work on NASA's Valkyrie humanoid.

On 30 June 2026 the company introduced Apollo 2 together with an expanded Robot Park training facility in Austin of nearly 90,000 sq ft. Apollo 2 is modular: there is a bipedal version and a wheeled-base version designed with existing industrial safety standards in mind. Apptronik says the next generation, Apollo 3, will be its commercial product.

Hardware

The original Apollo stands 5 ft 8 in (about 173 cm), weighs 160 lb (about 73 kg) and lifts up to 55 lb (about 25 kg). Apptronik made the arms lighter than the load they can carry to improve efficiency. A swappable pack gives about four hours of work, and a fresh pack gets the robot back to work without waiting to recharge.

Apollo 2 uses Apptronik's patented actuators. Swappable batteries are meant to allow near round-the-clock operation, and the design was reworked for volume manufacturing and less reliance on single-source suppliers. An LED mouth, speech and listening are meant to make the robot easier to work alongside.

Software and AI

In December 2024 Apptronik announced a partnership with Google DeepMind's robotics team. Apollo 2 units at Robot Park and customer sites record repeated tasks, and that data trains Gemini Robotics models. Earlier, in 2024, Apptronik worked with NVIDIA on learning from human demonstrations (Project GR00T), and in 2025 it simulated Apollo fleets for Mercedes-Benz in NVIDIA Omniverse.

Use cases and deployments

Mercedes-Benz announced an Apollo pilot in its plants in March 2024, and GXO began a proof-of-concept programme in June 2024. In early 2025 CEO Jeff Cardenas told TechCrunch that none of the partnerships had yet moved beyond the pilot stage. In February 2025 Apptronik signed a manufacturing deal with Jabil. According to coverage of the Apollo 2 launch, the same data-collection setup runs at Mercedes-Benz, GXO and Google DeepMind itself. Apptronik does not say how many robots are deployed at customers.

Manufacturer

Apptronik is a University of Texas at Austin spinout founded in 2016; its founders had been working on humanoids since 2013. Jeff Cardenas is CEO. Its Series A first closed at $350 million in February 2025 (co-led by B Capital and Capital Factory, with Google participating), grew to $403 million in March, and by February 2026 exceeded $935 million, with backers including Google, Mercedes-Benz, John Deere and QIA.

Price and availability

There is no public price list. In 2025 Cardenas said the target price is below $50,000 but that the company was not there yet. Robots go to partners through pilot programmes, and Apollo 3 is meant to be the fully commercial version.
