Orca (Orca I) is a bipedal humanoid from Shanghai-based Cyan Robotics (Shanghai Qingxin Creative Technology). It stands 1.51 m, weighs about 42 kg and has 28 degrees of freedom. The company highlights straight-knee walking, an "emotional" gait and open developer interfaces.
Design and technology
Cyan's spec sheet lists Orca I at 1510 x 520 x 280 mm and about 42 kg with battery (the home page rounds this to 1.45 m and 40.5 kg). It has 28 degrees of freedom: 6 per arm, 4 per leg, 2 per foot, 1 in the waist and 3 in the head. Peak knee torque is 150 Nm. Each arm carries about 5 kg, up to 10 kg with both. It ships with a dexterous hand plus an adaptive soft gripper.
Hardware includes a 14-core CPU, an NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super module, 3D LiDAR, a depth camera, IMU, a six-microphone array and an emotion display. Two quick-release 5000 mAh batteries give about 2 hours standing or 1 hour walking.
Cyan presents Orca as a humanoid that walks with straight knees like a person, which it says saves energy and improves stability on slopes.
Software and AI
Cyan develops Dino OS, which splits control into big-brain and small-brain layers with fast and slow reasoning. The company says its gait model learns different walking styles that can express emotion, and that its dual-arm manipulation model exceeds 95% success on short tasks. A large language model handles conversation.
Developers get open interfaces, 500-1000 Hz low-level communication, sample training and deployment code for motion, and a full-body teleoperation interface.
Manufacturer
Shanghai Qingxin Creative Technology (Cyan Robotics) builds "embodied characters": besides Orca it offers Amoo, an 80 cm plush-covered robot that has appeared at the MGM Shanghai West Bund hotel. The company says its team includes PhDs from Cambridge and UC Berkeley and that it has filed 57 patent applications in China.
Price and availability
No price is published; Cyan asks buyers to contact sales because configurations vary.
