DR01 is the first bipedal humanoid from DEEP Robotics of Hangzhou, best known for its Jueying line of inspection quadrupeds such as the X30 and Lite3. Unveiled in August 2024, it serves the company as a platform for AI training and locomotion research rather than a production product.
History and launch
DEEP Robotics showed the DR01 at the World Robot Conference in Beijing (21-25 August 2024). In the demo it climbed stairs, walked over steel bars and kept its balance while being pushed and pulled, and the company said it would run a series of AI training sessions on the robot.
It was later followed by the DR02, an industrial humanoid with full-body IP66 protection and an operating range of -20 to 55°C.
Design and hardware
DEEP Robotics says the DR01 walks at over 1.6 m/s, handles 18 cm steps, 25-degree slopes and uneven ground, and quickly regains balance after slipping or being shoved. It uses the company's own joints: lightweight J60 units and high-torque J100 units, which DEEP Robotics also sells as components.
The company has not officially published the DR01's height, weight or degree-of-freedom count; figures in third-party catalogues are not confirmed by its own materials.
Software and AI
The robot fuses proprioception with environmental perception and walks using a learned controller that couples sensing and control. DEEP Robotics calls it an embodied AI explorer: a platform for training models on large datasets so the robot can generate new behaviours as environments and tasks change.
Manufacturer
DEEP Robotics (Hangzhou Yunshenchu Technology) is based in Hangzhou and builds quadrupeds, humanoids and robot components. Its quadrupeds are used in power plants, factories, construction sites, tunnels and emergency response. It holds China's national Specialized and Sophisticated "Little Giant" status.
Price and availability
DEEP Robotics has not priced the DR01 or offered it for general sale; prices on third-party sites are estimates.
