Vega is a two-armed humanoid on an omnidirectional wheeled base, with a torso that folds for transport and extends to give floor-to-2.2 m reach. It is built by Silicon Valley startup Dexmate and sold mainly to research labs and physical AI teams. The current version is the Vega 1 Pro.

Design and technology

Dexmate lists 24 degrees of freedom without hands: 7 per arm, 3 in the torso, 3 in the head and 4 in the base (two steering and two drive wheels). The robot weighs 135 kg, folds to 66 × 56 × 66 cm and reaches 2.5 m with arms raised. Each arm lifts more than 5 kg in any pose, and the company quotes more than 20 hours of operation.

The head carries a stereo RGB camera, there are front and rear lidars and four RGB cameras on the base, with optional arm force/torque sensing. Compute is an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Thor. End effectors are ordered separately: a 6-DoF Dexmate hand, the DexGripper S or D (60 N grip force, holds its grip if power drops) or a customer tool on a published mount.

Software and AI

The robot ships with Python, C++ and Rust APIs, simulation-ready URDF/USD models, fleet management and teleoperation by VR headset or exoskeleton. Dexmate runs the DexHub platform with SDK docs and GitHub repositories. The pitch is a data-collection and model-training platform rather than a ready-made worker.

Applications and deployments

Dexmate's website shows users including Harvard, UC Berkeley, Columbia, Princeton, USC, UIUC, Johns Hopkins, LG, Samsung SDS and Field AI, with testimonials from Northwestern, USC and the LG CNS Future Robotics Lab. Korea's Dealsite describes the robot as suited to logistics centers and factories.

Manufacturer

Dexmate was founded by Tao Chen, Yuzhe Qin and Chongyang Wang and is based in Silicon Valley. In 2026 LG CNS made a strategic investment through LG Technology Ventures; the amount was not disclosed.

Price and availability

Compared with the catalogue

  • It has 24 degrees of freedom against a catalogue median of 28; more degrees of freedom usually means finer arm and hand movement.
  • Its weight of 135 kg (catalogue median: 65 kg) matters for transport and for working around people.
  • It is the only Dexmate model in the catalogue and one of 43 humanoids from USA.
