Galbot G1 is a wheeled semi-humanoid from Beijing-based Galaxy General Robot (Galbot): a two-armed torso on a lifting leg and an omnidirectional base. It was built for shops, pharmacies, warehouses and factories, where it picks items from shelves, restocks and packs orders.

History and launch

Galbot was founded in Beijing in May 2023 and unveiled its first robot, the G1, in May 2024, less than a year later. At the time, 36Kr Japan reported that sales were planned for late 2024.

By 2025 the G1 had become the core of Galbot's business, from unstaffed retail stores and pharmacies to warehouses and production lines.

Design and hardware

The G1 does not walk. Its torso sits on a folding leg with a lift mechanism, mounted on an omnidirectional wheeled base. That lets the wrist reach anywhere from floor level to about 2.1 m high and 1.9 m out, and the robot can crouch to grab items from bottom shelves.

Galbot's developer documentation (v2.2.4) lists a maximum height of 1730 mm and a body mass of 92.5 kg. Excluding the base and end effectors it has 21 degrees of freedom: 2 in the neck, 7 per arm, 3 in the waist and 2 in the leg. Each 710 mm arm carries 5 kg (10 kg combined), and the base drives at up to 1.5 m/s.

Sensing includes a stereo head camera, four RGB cameras in the torso, depth cameras and six-axis force sensors at the wrists, plus a 3D lidar and eight ultrasonic sensors in the base. Compute is an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin 64 GB (275 TOPS). The 48 V, 30 Ah battery is rated for about 8 hours of operation and about 3.5 hours to recharge.

Software and AI

Galbot leans heavily on simulated, synthetic training data. In January 2025 it released GraspVLA, a grasping model pre-trained with NVIDIA Isaac Sim. GroceryVLA handles densely packed retail shelves, and TrackVLA covers navigation, natural-language commands and following moving targets.

The company says the G1 handles around 5,000 product types and can be set up in a new store in about a day. These are Galbot's own claims and have not been independently verified.

Applications and deployments

In mid-2025 the G1 was working in nearly 10 stores in Beijing, with a target of 100 locations across China by year end. By December 2025 Galbot said its autonomous Galbot Store concept was running in more than 30 Chinese cities.

At Beijing's Xuanwu Hospital the robot assists in patient rooms, the pharmacy and wayfinding. Galbot also cites warehouse sites running around the clock for over a year and industrial trials with CATL, Bosch, Toyota and Hyundai. It claims orders for "thousands of units" but has not named buyers.

Manufacturer

Galaxy General Robot Co. (Galbot) is headquartered in Beijing. In 2024 it raised 700 million yuan in an angel round from investors including Qiming Venture Partners and Lanchi Ventures. In July 2025 it closed a 1.1 billion yuan (about 153 million USD) round led by CATL and Puquan Capital.

In December 2025 Galbot announced a round of more than 300 million USD from investors in China, Singapore and the Middle East, bringing total funding to about 800 million USD at a 3 billion USD valuation. It also formed a joint venture with Boyuan Capital, a Bosch Group investment arm, in 2025.

Price and availability

Galbot does not publish a list price for the G1. The robot is sold mainly as part of turnkey solutions for retail, pharmacies, warehouses and factories.
