Walker S is an industrial humanoid from Shenzhen-based UBTECH Robotics, shown at the end of 2023. It stands 1.7 m tall with 41 force-feedback servo joints, and its successors Walker S1 and S2 work on car assembly lines and in logistics. UBTECH is listed in Hong Kong.
History and launch
Walker S made its public debut on 29 December 2023 when UBTECH listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange: the robot struck the opening gong alongside chairman Zhou Jian. UBTECH called it the first listing ceremony with a humanoid and itself the first humanoid company on the exchange's main board.
Later versions are Walker S1, adapted to car assembly lines, and Walker S2, which swaps its own battery. The Walker S series builds on UBTECH's earlier Walker and Walker X humanoids.
Hardware
UBTECH lists Walker S at 1.7 m with 41 servo joints with force feedback. Force-compliant joints and a hybrid rigid-flexible structure are meant to keep it stable even on moving production lines. It carries high-resolution RGBD cameras plus audio and distance sensors.
Walker S2 lifts 15 kg according to UBTECH, and a high-torque waist lets it rotate ±162° and bend 125°, working anywhere from 0 to 1.8 m high. It uses passive RGB-only stereo vision and two batteries: it can swap a battery on its own in about 3 minutes and choose between swapping and charging, aiming at round-the-clock work.
Software and AI
Walker S uses U-SLAM navigation with 3D semantic maps, estimates the 6D pose of objects from point clouds and grasps them with hand-eye coordination. It integrates a large language model for intent understanding and task planning, runs the ROSA 2.0 operating system and can link to manufacturing management systems to exchange production data. UBTECH also develops an industrial agent, Co-Agent, for Walker S2.
Use cases and deployments
UBTECH says Walker S1 works on car-factory assembly lines alongside autonomous logistics vehicles and AMRs/AGVs. In 2025 the company sold 1,079 full-size humanoids (over 160 cm, not remote-controlled) for RMB 820 million, with total revenue above RMB 2 billion.
In 2026 UBTECH signed European integrator Terra Robotics as exclusive distributor for Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Terra bought several dozen humanoids that are being deployed in settings including ROSSMANN logistics centres, where Walker S2 handles material moving and sorting.
Manufacturer
UBTECH Robotics was founded in Shenzhen in 2012; Zhou Jian is chairman and CEO. It began with small educational and entertainment robots (the Alpha series) and also makes Cruzr service robots and AI education platforms. It has been listed in Hong Kong since December 2023 (9880.HK) and joined the HKEX Tech 100 index in 2026.
Price and availability
UBTECH does not publish Walker S series prices; sales go through its sales team and partners such as Terra Robotics in Europe.

Data and provenance for AI agents ↗Compared with the catalogue
- At 170 cm the UBTECH Walker S is taller than 43% of the humanoids in the catalogue (median: 170 cm).
- It has 41 degrees of freedom against a catalogue median of 28; more degrees of freedom usually means finer arm and hand movement.
- Its weight of 76 kg (catalogue median: 65 kg) matters for transport and for working around people.
- It is one of 6 UBTECH models in the catalogue and one of 128 humanoids from China.
