Digit is a bipedal humanoid from Oregon-based Agility Robotics, built to move totes and handle other work in warehouses and factories. The fourth generation has been working commercially for about three years at customers including GXO, Schaeffler, Amazon and Toyota, and Agility unveiled Digit 5 in September 2026. The company is heading to the stock market through a SPAC merger.
History and launch
Agility Robotics has been developing Digit for more than a decade. Its legs bend backwards, much like a bird's, which sets it apart from most humanoids. Digit 4 has been working at customer sites for nearly three years, which Agility says is the longest tenure of any humanoid in industrial work.
On 15 September 2026 Agility unveiled Digit 5, built around three years of feedback from Digit 4 customers. The headline change is a new safety architecture meant to let the robot work near people without protective barriers.
Hardware
Digit 5 stands 1.81 m (5 ft 11 in) and weighs 129 kg (284 lb). It reaches up to 2.2 m, up from about 1.7 m on Digit 4. A redesigned leg with proprietary cycloidal actuators lets it repeatedly lift 50 lb (22.7 kg), 40% more than before and enough to cover single-person lift tasks in OSHA-regulated facilities.
The battery gives 90 minutes of runtime and recharges in 9 minutes, a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio (Digit 4 was 2:1) and more than 20 working hours per day. End effectors are swappable on ISO-standard flanges, so the robot can switch from tote handling to machine tending.
Safety features include AI-based human detection using several sensor types, light and sound cues that signal motion intent, and an independent safety controller that stops the robot when a person comes too close. Agility is the first launch partner for NVIDIA's Halos for Robotics platform built on IGX Thor.
Software and AI
Fleets run on Agility Arc, a cloud platform that tracks KPIs such as uptime, throughput and mean time between incidents and connects with WMS, MES and AMR systems. Agility says its stack is trained on 65,000 hours of real operational data. With new skills, Digit 5 is meant to cover a facility's whole material flow, from depalletising through machine tending and kitting to palletising.
Use cases and deployments
Digit 4 has logged more than 65,000 hours at North American customers including GXO, Schaeffler, Amazon and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. At GXO's Flowery Branch site near Atlanta it moved a cumulative 100,000 totes at about 98% accuracy. Agility says Digit was the first humanoid to pass an independent field evaluation against OSHA-administered industrial safety standards on a customer production line.
In February 2026 Forbes and Automotive News reported a robots-as-a-service deal with Toyota and Digit's deployment at Toyota's Canadian plant. By May 2026 Agility had more than $300 million in multi-year Digit 5 orders, subject to contractual milestones.
Manufacturer
Agility Robotics is based in Salem, Oregon, where it assembles robots at its RoboFab facility. CEO Peggy Johnson was previously an executive vice president at Microsoft. Backers include DCVC, NVIDIA, Amazon, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Foxconn, Schaeffler and Playground Global. In June 2026 Agility agreed to merge with Churchill Capital Corp XI at a $2.5 billion pre-money equity value, with plans to list under the ticker AGLT.
Price and availability
Agility does not publish a purchase price. Robots are offered to businesses, including on a robots-as-a-service basis where customers pay for the robot's work rather than buying it. Agility notes that Digit 5 specifications are preliminary estimates based on pre-production hardware.

Data and provenance for AI agents ↗Compared with the catalogue
- At 175 cm the Agility Robotics Digit is taller than 68% of the humanoids in the catalogue (median: 170 cm).
- It has 20 degrees of freedom against a catalogue median of 28; more degrees of freedom usually means finer arm and hand movement.
- Its weight of 65 kg (catalogue median: 65 kg) matters for transport and for working around people.
- It is one of 2 Agility Robotics models in the catalogue and one of 43 humanoids from USA.
