History and launch

Booster Robotics was founded in June 2023. In 2024 it showed the BR002 prototype and the T1, which debuted at the World Robot Conference in Beijing. The K1 came later as a smaller, cheaper learning model.

At RoboCup 2025 in Brazil, HTWK (Germany) and Tsinghua TH-MOS took first and second in KidSize on K1 robots. At RoboCup 2026, the company says, 38 of 59 teams competed on Booster robots.

Design and hardware

K1 is about 95 cm tall and 19.5 kg, with 22 DoF: 6 per leg, 4 per arm and 2 in the head. Actuators with dual encoders reach 60 Nm peak torque.

It has a stereo depth camera, a 9-axis IMU, a circular 3-mic array with speaker and a Gigabit Ethernet port. Three versions exist: Geek (48 TOPS, 2 Ah battery, about 30 minutes walking at 0.4 m/s, 3-month warranty), Education (117 TOPS) and Professional (200 TOPS), the latter two with a 5 Ah battery for about 80 minutes and a one-year warranty.

Software and AI

K1 uses Booster GYM 2.0 for motion learning, and Booster provides open-source RoboCup solutions, developer documentation, an app, Booster Studio and an agent store. The Doubao LLM is included free for six months. Firmware updates over the air and secondary development is supported.

Use cases

Education, research and robot competitions, especially RoboCup. K1 also performed on stage at the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games.

Company

Booster Robotics Technology Co., Ltd. was founded by CEO Cheng Hao, a Tsinghua graduate; core team members come from Tsinghua's robot control lab and its Hephaestus RoboCup team. Funding includes a Pre-A round (September 2024), a Series A led by Shenzhen Capital Group (June 2025) and a Series A+ led by Beijing robotics and AI funds (July 2025). It is an official RoboCup partner.

Price and availability

K1 is sold through Booster's online store and partners; pricing depends on the version and was not shown on the product page.
