Fourier N1 is a compact bipedal humanoid from Shanghai-based Fourier, released in 2025 with open hardware documentation. It is 130 cm tall, weighs 38 kg and is built for motion-control and embodied-AI research rather than production work.

History and launch

Fourier started with rehabilitation robots and launched its humanoid project in 2019. The first GR-1 appeared in 2022 and entered mass production in 2023, GR-2 followed in 2024, and the GR-3 series and N1 in 2025.

Fourier calls N1 its first open-source humanoid. It is part of the Fourier Nexus program, through which the company shares hardware, algorithms and data, including the open Fourier ActionNet motion dataset. The product brochure is dated May 2025.

Design and hardware

Fourier lists 130 cm, 38 kg, 23 degrees of freedom, a top speed of 3.5 m/s and over 2 hours of runtime per charge. The frame combines aluminium alloy and engineering plastics.

N1 walks fast, runs, handles 15 to 20° slopes and 20 cm stairs, balances on one leg and does push-ups.

Software and AI

Fourier publishes a hardware resource package with schematics, a bill of materials, assembly manuals and basic control software, and plans to release modules for whole-body control and multi-task coordination.

The aim is to let research teams quickly validate motion control, multimodal integration and new robot form factors.

Company

Fourier was founded in 2015 by Alex Gu. Its first product was an upper-limb rehabilitation robot (2016), followed by the X1 exoskeleton (2017) and the RehabHub platform (2020); its first international office opened in Singapore in 2018. It now develops GR and N series humanoids alongside rehabilitation equipment.

Price and availability

Fourier does not list an N1 price; buyers contact sales, and documentation is in the company's download center.

Compared with the catalogue

  • At 130 cm the Fourier Intelligence N1 is taller than 4% of the humanoids in the catalogue (median: 170 cm).
  • It has 23 degrees of freedom against a catalogue median of 28; more degrees of freedom usually means finer arm and hand movement.
  • Its weight of 38 kg (catalogue median: 65 kg) matters for transport and for working around people.
  • It is one of 4 Fourier Intelligence models in the catalogue and one of 128 humanoids from China.
