History

LimX Dynamics was founded in Shenzhen in January 2022. According to its timeline, the CL-1 humanoid completed multi-scenario dynamic testing in December 2023, and in August 2024 it validated stair climbing, continuous running and heavy-load handling.

LimX also developed other legged robots: the P1 biped (shown at IROS in October 2023), the W1 wheeled quadruped (September 2023) and the modular TRON 1 biped for reinforcement-learning research (October 2024). That work fed into its later humanoids, LimX Oli (July 2025) and the interactive LimX Luna (May 2026).

What is known about the hardware

LimX does not currently publish CL-1 specifications, and the robot has no product page. Catalogue figures (height, weight, DoF, runtime) could not be confirmed against manufacturer sources here, and the robot was never offered at a public price.

Manufacturer

LimX Dynamics is based in Nanshan I Valley, Shenzhen. Alibaba led its Series A in 2024 (its first embodied-AI investment), JD.com made a strategic investment in 2025 and LimX signed an MoU with SAIC for a joint AI lab. In 2026 it raised $200 million in a Series B and another $200 million in a pre-IPO round. It also develops the LimX COSA humanoid system and the open-source FluxVLA engine.

Compared with the catalogue

  • At 170 cm the Limx Dynamics CL-1 is taller than 43% of the humanoids in the catalogue (median: 170 cm).
  • It has 31 degrees of freedom against a catalogue median of 28; more degrees of freedom usually means finer arm and hand movement.
  • Its weight of 50 kg (catalogue median: 65 kg) matters for transport and for working around people.
  • It is one of 3 Limx Dynamics models in the catalogue and one of 128 humanoids from China.
