Lumos Robotics LUS2

LUS 2 is a full-size bipedal humanoid from China's Lumos Robotics, aimed at research, education and commercial use. It stands 160 cm, weighs 57 kg and has 28 degrees of freedom. Lumos highlights its ability to get up from the ground in one second.

History and launch

Lumos Robotics was founded in September 2024 and showed its first humanoid, LUS1, in December 2024. LUS 2 launched in June 2025, billed by the company as the first full-size humanoid able to stand up in one second. In August 2025 LUS2 robots won silver in the group dance event at the first World Humanoid Robot Games, and in November 2025 they danced at the closing ceremony of China's 15th National Games.

Design and technology

Lumos's spec sheet gives LUS 2 a height of 160 cm, weight of 57 kg and an aluminum frame. Of its 28 degrees of freedom, each leg has 6, each arm 7 and the waist 1. Joints reach 360 Nm, each arm carries 3 kg, and dexterous hands are optional. It walks with straight legs.

Perception comes from 3D LiDAR, a stereo depth camera and a four-mic array, with an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin (275 TOPS) for compute. A 54 V / 10 Ah lithium battery gives about 2 hours of operation, and updates arrive over the air.

Software and AI

LUS 2 has an open architecture for teaching, research and custom development. Lumos develops a Physical AI engine called NexCore that jointly trains world models and vision-language-action models; it does not specify which parts run on LUS 2. In June 2026 its Lumos Prime R0 model ranked first on the MolmoSpaces zero-shot benchmark.

Applications and deployments

Lumos lists performances and entertainment, visitor guidance, research and education. No unit sales have been disclosed; the company's industrial deployments mainly involve its wheeled dual-arm MOS robot.

Manufacturer

Lumos Robotics is a Chinese company registered in Guangdong, founded by Yu Chao, a Tsinghua graduate who previously led development of Xiaomi's CyberDog and was general manager of MagicLab. It raised nearly 100 million yuan in angel rounds in 2025, hundreds of millions of yuan in Pre-A rounds in December 2025 and more in A1 and A2 rounds in May 2026 led by Mitsubishi Electric. Partners include Mitsubishi Electric, COSCO Shipping and JD.com.
