NIX (now NIX S3) is a small 89 cm bipedal humanoid from China's Lumos Robotics, built for performances, guest services and companionship. It has 21 degrees of freedom, weighs about 25 kg and can dance and perform stunts. It launched in August 2025.
Design and technology
Lumos's spec sheet lists NIX at 892 x 445 x 176 mm and 25.41 kg including battery. It has 21 degrees of freedom: 4 per arm, 6 per leg and 1 in the waist. Peak joint torque is 102 Nm and maximum payload 3 kg. It comes in black or white with several appearance options.
It has an RGB camera, a four-mic array, speaker and wireless microphone, Wi-Fi, 4G and Bluetooth, and an RK3588 processor. A quick-release 282 Wh battery gives about 2 hours of runtime.
Software and AI
NIX holds AI-powered voice conversations and synchronizes speech with motion. It can stand up, lie down, walk, run, wave, dance solo or in groups and perform stunts. The Education edition adds a larger library of harder routines and an open SDK, and updates arrive over the air.
Applications and deployments
Lumos aims NIX at hotels, resorts, museums and large events for greeting, guiding and performing, as well as companionship and brand showcases. No sales figures have been published.
Manufacturer
Lumos Robotics is a Chinese company founded in September 2024 by Yu Chao, who previously led Xiaomi's CyberDog. Besides NIX it makes the full-size LUS 2 humanoid and the wheeled dual-arm MOS. Mitsubishi Electric led its A1 and A2 rounds in May 2026.
