MagicBot (now sold as MagicBot Gen1) is a full-size bipedal general-purpose humanoid from MagicLab of Wuxi, China. It is aimed at research and education, flexible manufacturing, guided tours and patrols, and was the first humanoid in a lineup that later added the smaller Z1, the wheeled D1 and the flagship X1.

History and launch

MagicLab was founded in January 2024; its core team had worked on Xiaomi's first quadruped robot. Robot sales began in May 2025.

The full-size MagicBot was the brand's first humanoid. At CES in January 2026 MagicLab showed it as MagicBot Gen1, alongside the smaller MagicBot Z1 (launched July 2025) and its MagicDog quadrupeds.

Design and hardware

According to the spec sheet, Gen1 is 174 cm tall with a 160 cm arm span and weighs about 70 kg. It has 42 active degrees of freedom, including 7 per arm (shoulder 3, elbow 1, wrist 3), 6 per leg (hip 3, knee 1, ankle 2), plus waist and neck joints. An 11-DoF tactile dexterous hand is optional.

In-house joint modules with planetary and harmonic reducers deliver at least 350 Nm. The robot moves at 2 m/s or more, climbs slopes of at least 20°, lifts up to 15 kg with both arms (7.5 kg per arm) and runs 3 to 5 hours on a 25 Ah (1.35 kWh) battery.

Perception uses 3D LiDAR, a depth camera and a triple camera set including fisheye vision; compute is an 8-core CPU with a 100 TOPS AI processor, with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and optional 5G.

Software and AI

Gen1 handles autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance, face recognition and voice interaction. It can be operated from a phone, tablet or controller and receives OTA updates.

The SDK exposes both low-level single-joint control and the built-in motion controller, as well as sensor data and voice functions. In July 2026 MagicLab introduced its own Magic-VLA K02 model, pairing task understanding with motion execution.

Deployments

MagicLab says its robots are used in nine types of scenario, from manufacturing to public safety and entertainment. Its humanoids appeared at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala and the Wuxi Marathon, and the wheeled D1 runs in a Dreame factory.

Gasgoo reported RMB 500 million in letters of intent and RMB 130 million in firm orders within six months of sales starting, across the whole product range.

Company

Magiclab Robotics Technology (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. is based in Wuxi, Jiangsu. It employs more than 300 people, over 70% in R&D, and designs its own joints, reducers, drives and hands.
