L7 is a full-size bipedal humanoid from Beijing's Robotera (Xingdong Jiyuan), a company partly owned by Tsinghua University. It stands 171 cm, has 55 degrees of freedom including hands and runs at up to 4 m/s. Robotera targets logistics, manufacturing, research and entertainment, with control built on its own VLA model, ERA-42.
Design and technology
The datasheet lists 1.71 m height and 65 kg without hands. The body has 31 DoF, 55 including hands. Each arm has 7 DoF with a 1,660 mm span, and a cross-axis wrist tilts ±90° front to back and ±45° sideways. With elbows bent at 90° the two arms hold 20 kg together, and the working envelope is a 2.1 m diameter circle.
In-house knee joints peak at 400 N·m and 25 rad/s. Robotera quotes a 4 m/s running speed and shows a 360° spinning jump. The robot uses XHAND1 hands with 12 active, directly driven DoF, plus a stereo camera, a 360° 3D lidar, microphones and a speaker. Battery capacity is listed as 60 V, 15 Ah, and compute as 80 TOPS (x86) plus 275 TOPS (NVIDIA Orin).
Software and AI
Robotera bills L7 as China's first 55-DoF bipedal humanoid driven by a VLA model, which it calls ERA-42. The same model runs on the L7-U, an upper-body torso on a stand; the company says skills learned on the torso transfer to the full robot without extra data.
Applications
Robotera's material shows L7 sorting and scanning parcels in logistics, handling and assembling parts in manufacturing, serving whole-body control research and foundation model training, and performing hip-hop dances and bartending. The datasheet names no L7 customers; the company's site says nine of the world's ten most valuable tech companies are its customers.
Manufacturer
Beijing Robotera Technology develops both hardware and software in-house. Its website says Tsinghua University is a shareholder, that it has closed a Series A of nearly 500 million yuan and that it delivers products at scale. Besides L7 it offers models such as M7 and Q5 and its XHAND dexterous hands.
Price and availability
Robotera does not publish an L7 price; inquiries go to its sales team. The robot comes as the full L7 humanoid or the L7-U torso.
