History and launch

XPeng unveiled IRON at its AI Day in early November 2024, saying the robot had been five years in development and followed the bipedal PX5 from 2023. A completely new IRON generation arrived in November 2025, turning the 2024 prototype into a historical version.

Hardware

It stood 178 cm (5 ft 10 in) and weighed 70 kg. XPeng cited more than 60 joints and around 200 degrees of freedom across the body, a count that includes the hands. The hands could grasp, hold and place items. Its brain was XPeng's in-house Turing AI chip.

Software and AI

Walking relied on an end-to-end large model, with technology carried over from XPeng's driver-assistance systems.

Use cases and deployments

XPeng put the robot to work in its factory on parts sorting, screw installation and working alongside material delivery vehicles. It also talked about retail and customer-facing roles, quality control and logistics.

Price and availability

The prototype was not sold. The production IRON, based on the 2025 generation, is due to reach customers in 2027.
