The PUDU D7 is a semi-humanoid from China's Pudu Robotics: a torso with a head and two arms on an omnidirectional wheeled base, with no legs. The first version, shown in September 2024, was pitched as a service robot; a new generation announced in June 2026 targets warehouses and factories.
History and launch
Pudu introduced its semi-humanoid concept in May 2024 and unveiled the D7, the first such model from its Pudu X-Lab, in September 2024, saying full commercialisation was planned for 2025.
On 1 June 2026 Pudu announced a next-generation D7 aimed at industry and intralogistics. At a public demo in July 2026 it photographed visitors and guided Pudu's D5 quadruped through crowds, and it made its European debut at IFA in Berlin in September 2026.
Design and hardware
Pudu listed the 2024 version at 165 cm and 45 kg. Each arm had a 65 cm reach, a 10 kg payload and 0.1 mm end-point precision. The arms had 30 degrees of freedom in total, rising to 50 with dexterous hands. A battery of over 1 kWh was rated for more than 8 hours, and the base could reach 2 m/s and stay stable on slopes up to 10 degrees.
According to IFA coverage, the 2026 generation has 23 joints, none in the legs, two 7-DoF arms and 11-DoF hands. It lifts up to 14 kg and reaches items up to 2 m high. It adds tactile sensors that measure contact force and pressure in real time, front and rear LiDAR, and autonomous battery swapping for round-the-clock operation.
Software and AI
In 2024 Pudu described a hierarchical control system in which a high-level layer plans tasks and a low-level layer handles motion and sensor feedback in real time. The new generation runs PuduFM 1.0, which Pudu calls its embodied AI foundation model, together with the PuduAgent platform for planning and coordinating multiple robots.
Applications and deployments
The first version was meant to ride elevators and carry and sort items in retail, catering and healthcare. The 2026 generation targets material handling, shelf picking, replenishment, cart pushing and light assembly. Pudu has not named D7 customers or disclosed unit numbers.
Manufacturer
Pudu Robotics is based in Shenzhen and led by founder and CEO Felix Zhang. It is best known for delivery and cleaning robots and said in June 2026 that it had shipped more than 130,000 units to over 85 countries and regions. It groups its products into specialised robots, semi-humanoids and full humanoids such as the D9.
