R1-D is the version of Unitree's dual-arm R1 robot with a lifting column and a mobile base. It extends from 68 to 160 cm, has a head with stereo cameras and microphones, and comes with 5-DoF or 7-DoF arms. The stationary dual-arm R1 starts at 4,290 USD on Unitree's site.
Design and hardware
The dual-arm R1 family has four variants: stationary R1-A5 and R1-A7 (11-13 kg on external power) and mobile R1-A5-D and R1-A7-D. The D versions weigh about 30 and 32 kg, measure 683 × 520 × 440 mm folded and rise to 1600 mm. The R1-A7-D has 22 DoF with gripper: 7 per arm, 1 in the waist, 2 in the head and 3 in the base.
Each arm lifts 2-4 kg depending on pose, with ±0.1 mm gripper accuracy; the shoulder delivers up to 60 Nm, and joints use dual encoders and internal wiring. End effectors include a two-finger gripper or a three- or five-finger hand. Runtime on battery is about 1.5 hours, and the robot can also run on external power.
The head carries a stereo module (146° horizontal, 124° vertical, 1280 × 720 RGB plus depth), an 8-core CPU with a 10 TOPS accelerator, four microphones and two speakers. Mobile versions add a chassis lidar, and an NVIDIA Orin module (40-100 TOPS) is optional.
Software and AI
Unitree opens interfaces to the underlying system, arms, audio, lighting and vision, allowing development down to the lowest level. Voice and visual interaction and OTA updates are supported.
Applications and deployments
Unitree stresses fast deployment across many scenarios. Its low price and open interfaces make R1-D a candidate platform for research, teaching robot programming and collecting manipulation training data.
Manufacturer
Unitree Robotics (Hangzhou Yushu Technology), based in Hangzhou, is known for its quadrupeds and its G1, H1, H2 and R1 humanoids, and develops its own motors, reducers, controllers and lidars.
Price and availability
Unitree's product page lists the dual-arm R1 from 4,290 USD for the stationary R1-A5. In the official store the R1-A7, R1-A5-D and R1-A7-D carry a placeholder price, so R1-D pricing has to be obtained from sales.

Data and provenance for AI agents ↗Compared with the catalogue
- At 160 cm the Unitree R1-D is taller than 19% of the humanoids in the catalogue (median: 170 cm).
- It has 22 degrees of freedom against a catalogue median of 28; more degrees of freedom usually means finer arm and hand movement.
- Its weight of 32 kg (catalogue median: 65 kg) matters for transport and for working around people.
- It is one of 8 Unitree models in the catalogue and one of 128 humanoids from China.
